Crowne Plaza Wilmington North

I had the misfortune of staying here for business earlier this month and I must say it was the worst hotel I ever stayed at. I was told the rooms were redone yet the paint was pealing in the bathroom. The floor were damp yet I stayed on the third floor? The best part of this hotel is how sound travels through the heating system so I got to listen to what sounded like a bunch of teenagers partying until 3am. After calling the front desk about three times it finally stopped. One benefit on the noise traveling to other rooms was the fact that I got to hear a few couples have their morning "fun" together. In the morning I had what was called breakfast but I could not eat it.
Save your money stay somewhere else!

This hotel is having renovations that are just being completed. I guess it used to be a Holiday Inn, but is now a Crowne Plaza. As we were there, they were just removing the scaffolding from the new entrance. This hotel is BEAUTIFUL. The lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the beds are among the most comfortable I've ever slept in! We had a truly wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Only 10 minutes from downtown Wilmington, probably 20 to 30 minutes from Philadelphia.

This hotel is still in the process of being renovated. The good: the rooms are large and freshly designed - very nice. The lobby equally so. There is scaffolding over the front entranceway that makes for a rather unpleasant entrance but will be fine once the work is completed.

Now the bad. Reservation for 2 beds was changed into 1 king bed by the hotel on arrival. All attempts to get this reversed were not met. I was offered an extra room free of charge but not interconnecting or adjacent. Traveling with a 12 year who has diabetes did not make this possible. I inquired as to whether or not breakfast was free and was told they would offer to me as I was a priority club member. Front desk said they would also offer this for my son. Upon presenting my club membership was told my status was not high enough and the offer of free breakfast was removed! Was offered a roll-away cot for free (savings of $10.00) to make up for all the inconvenience (which I refused). Asked for a late check-out and surprise! was told they had assigned all of the late check-outs they could (due to a hockey tournament) so we had to vacate at 1200pm. Restaurant opened up this past weekend and the food is great. The bad news is that it took just under 2 hours to receive our meal. We were the only table in the restaurant! Waitress kept apologizing and offered us a free drink. When the food arrived she spilled the bowl of ketchup all over one of our group. Bill had a higher cost on the items ordered. When I questioned this she replied yes, the chef/management were trying to figure out the costs! Despite a printed menu being readily at hand to confirm they were wrong .

This will be a very nice hotel to stay at once they have figured out how to run things.

I have stayed at this Property for about 5 years off and on. It was a Holiday in Select but now its a Crowne Plaza. I stay there because its close to where I need to be thats the only reason. The staff is terrible, they could care less. I was on the computer there last week and all the clerck could say to a customer was no,no,no. I thought this was the hospitality business.THe resturant sucks and so does the bar when they had one. IT seems like they want to chase you away. Trust me there are good places to eat close by Duffers, The Reef are both good, if you want a dive bar try Mctullio's in the tri=state mall, very freindly people there.
They are remodeling so thats a plus now al they have to do is remodel the staff.

Room Tip: Dont take no for an answer, be demandinding you are the one paying the bill

Dear Guest,

I would like to apologize for the issues you encountered. There is simply no excuse for the level of service you received. A new Management Company took over supervision of the hotel on March 1, 2012. I see that you have stayed at the hotel multiple times for business. I hope you will give us a second chance.

Please contact me directly and I will see to your reservation and accommodations.
