The mill has a lot going for it ,lovely walks in a peaceful scenic river hillside , you can see for miles. you can sit outside by the river or inside in one of the cosy rooms .( watch your head on the beams ) . the beer is good and the staff are friendly ,but can get distracted with doing to many jobs at once ( need more staff) . but be patiant and it will be worth the wait .the food is good pub fare with some shortcuts on the veg using frozen produce ,but the mains are very tasty and homemade , recommend the pies and the portions are big and will fill any hungry walker up . this is not our 1st visit and won`t be our last . highly recommended.

I stayed two nights at short notice and arrived late. The chef stayed on to ensure that I had a proper supper, and there was also a welcoming log fire. Bar staff, chef and owner-manager were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was good (and plentiful). Although clean and reasonably equiped, the bedrooms are small and a little 'tired', but are warm and comfortable. The location is a little 'off the beaten track', but is therefore quiet and is a good base for an assualt on Blencathra and other fells. I would happily stay there again.

Just returned from another stay at the Mill Inn, Mungisdale, Cumbria. This is a lovely country inn which serves excellent food and is well positioned for walking, cycling or just dining with friends. We have stayed in several of the rooms and found them all clean, nicely furnished and cosy. The owner Andrew and his staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to make your stay as good as they can. They are very understanding of walkers needs, and can help with bike storage etc. It is in a lovely location with walks straight out of the back door, and is dog friendly. Great value and well worth a visit!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back tend to be quieter. Also if there is anything you need-just ask. They will always help you!

The Mill Inn is a very nice located in the lake district. The owner is very friendly, welcoming. Some of the room interiors are a little bit outdated and needs renovation. The location is excellent for walking and exploring on the bike. Jogging was challenging because of the hilly road. The mill inn offers good pub food. Steaks need to be pre-reserved ;-) Wi-fi internet available only n the left part of the building.

We were pleasantly surprised to arrive at this beautiful location. Although quite a secluded place, there are plenty of gorgeous views and places to walk if that is your thing, The rooms were small but very clean and catered for all needs. They provided tea/coffee in your room. The food in the restaurant was very good, the cider was divine. We were lucky, the weather was beautiful. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The reason why we have given it a four star, is due to the location. Its ideal if you want a retreat and walk/climb etc. But we wanted that little bit more, maybe more pubs etc. But overall we would recommend this to anyone wanting a break from city life in an idyllic location.
