Have been to the Watermill quite a lot and it never disappoints. Today I had the jacket potato but didn't want any of the filling so as led if I could have the feta cheese and sundried tomato from the warm filling on the ciabatta menu. It was no trouble at all and was absolutely delicious. Staff are always friendly and of course it's dog friendly. Sadly we don't have a dog anymore so it's nice to see some wagging tails around.

Read one or two other reviews when the comment has been that the staff not friendly. Well that's certainly never been our experience as staff are always chatty and helpful. Perhaps it may have been the customer!!!

Lovely log fire and really cosy and warm. Well done Watermill you do a great job. Interesting that it was Monday and the place was busy. Says it all doesn't it.

We arrived on a very wet New Year's Day for a family lunch (4 adults, a 4 year old and a 2 year old). The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. There was a box of toys and books to keep the children entertained while we waited for our food. The children's lunches looked lovely, home made and nutritious, and the children really enjoyed their meals. The adult meals were average pub food but they were fine. A good range of beers. Overall, it was an enjoyable and stress free lunch. Definitely recommend it.

Having called in on a wet day in the Lakes last year, we were impressed by the pub, food and staff. We decided to take a short New Year break here, and were not disappointed.

We ate in the pub all 3 nights, and the meals were all of a consistently high standard. Steak and ale pie, fish, and ribeye steak all good value for money. I'm reliably informed by my husband that all the beers were well kept!

Breakfast was also of a good quality. The room was clean and comfortable.

The staff were all attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. Our dog was also made very welcome.

As keen walkers, this pub provides a good base for the Southern Lakes, so we will be returning. Thank you to everyone at the Watermill for a fantastic break!

Looking for a dog-friendly B&B pub in the Lakes for a Twixmas break we were really impressed by the Watermill's website but didn't really believe it could fulfil all its promise. Up to 16 real ales? Dogs not only accepted, or welcomed, but positively encouraged? A menu of highly-praised dishes at realistic prices? Just off the A 591, no steep narrow lanes to cause icy winter worries?

So we went, we stayed 4 nights and it fulfilled all its promises and more! My daughter and her boyfriend joined us for 2 nights so we sampled a good range of food & drink and it was all great.

Those who prefer a dog-free environment can enjoy all this as well, as the Watermill cleverly splits itself into two areas, dog friendly and dog free, both of which offer a large number of tables, nooks & crannies for eating & drinking.

In our dog friendly room I saw the 8 handpumps of local beers and thought "Aha! So much for the promise of up to 16 real ales" but then discovered the other 8 were in the dog free room! All available in each room of course.

Our rooms were fine, good sized beds, plenty of storage space, well-equipped en suite shower room and all spotlessly clean. Breakfasts and dinners were of restaurant quality and the serving staff were delightful.

The Watermill claims to offer excellent accommodation, food & drink in a traditional pub environment and in our opinion they achieve this completely. So many other Lakes pubs are now poshed-up gastro pubs with sky high prices and no atmosphere, unfortunately.

Our only niggle, and we struggled to find one, the pillows were loosely filled (feather?) which left you waking up with your head in the valley between two hills of pillow BUT still worth a full 5 stars!

My wife , dog & I spent three very comfortable nights at the Watermill. The room was very clean, cosy and comfortable, a little on the small side but everything else made up for this.
Evening bar meals were exceedingly good and well priced, as is the vast selection of beer. Breakfast was also very good.
If you have a dog this is certainly the place to stay as the dogs are made to feel most welcome, even by being able to sit with you at breakfast.
We shall definitely be returning.

We called at The Watermill in Ings, for just a drink, the real ale is in the Camra guide, the food looked real nice so we decided to stay for lunch, the service behind the bar and the waiter service was second to non, excellent! The food was equally as good if not better, well worth our trip, will definitely return as this was one of the finest meals for the price we have ever had, and brilliant beer too, what more could anyone ask for, SUPERB!

Having passed the Watermill in the past when on a delivery run, I decided to see whether it would be up to my expectations. Therefore my wife and I decided on a two night stay in early November and we were not disappointed. In fact we had a brilliant time - at least 11 real ales, excellent food both at breakfast and in the evening and our room was lovely, clean and cosy. Will definately book again in the future and recommend to family and friends.
