We stayed 3 nights in this wonderful B&B. We booked two rooms for our family. Rosemary and Linda took great care of us, especially the fabulous breakfasts cooked to order. This is a great and convenient locations for seeing all the Lake District sights.

The Guest House is situated just 2 miles away from Windermere in the tiny village of Ings, which is also home to a great pub called the Watermill Inn, which is also a micro brewery serving 16 Real Ales on the premises.

The accommodation we booked was at short notice and we ended up with the disabled room, which was absolutely fine for our one night stay. Meadowcroft seems to be one of the few places in the Lakes where you can actually book for just one night and this suited us perfectly as we could not stay any longer. We were charged £85 for bed and breakfast and this turned out to be good value for money and we really enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome by our host, Rosemary. They also allow dogs to stay, which will be handy for us in the future.

The room was very clean and spacious and the bed was a delight to sleep in. Beakfast was served between 8.15 and 8.45, which is a bit restrictive on a weekend, but turned out to be well cooked and the choice of food was also good. Parking was not a problem with adequate spaces and the guest House ios situated in a good place for touring in the car or for some lovely walks in the fells. We like Staveley, which is just a few miles away in preference to windermere, which can be crowded and noisy.

I can recommend the Guest house as a good low cost alternative to Windermere and you will be offered a warm welcom and a comfortable stay as your reward.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room as these will be quiter than the downstairs ones as the floor boards do ten...

We stopped for two nights in a pleasant double room with a nicely decorated bathroom. The only reason we haven't given it full marks is that, as noted on some other reviews, our room faced the main road which is quite busy during the day. In addition the window didn't shut properly, but having said that, the owners are in the midst of getting the windows replaced with full double glazing and our room was scheduled to have the window replaced the day after we left so by now the noise level should be much reduced. The owners were very welcoming and we were impressed by how welcome they make dog owners... even though we haven't got a dog ourselves! One other comment we would make is that the time they serve breakfast is limited to 8.15 to 8.45 am. Finally, the pub at the end of the lane is excellent as it serves a range of their own brews and a very good food menu. All in all we were very pleased with our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stop again should we visit the area again.

My family and I; including our dog, have been to the Meadowcroft Country Guest House three times and have never had cause to think that we will not go back again. The welcome you receive is warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble; with extra dog towels for rainy days.
The rooms are clean and well appointed. Breakfast is freshly cooked for you each morning and there is plenty of choice.
Yes, it is situated on a main road, however at night when it matters it's generally not busy and quiet, I am a light sleeper and the noise wasn't enough to bother me.
Brilliant!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice and are able to cater for all; be that disabled or a larger family.

Stayed here for 2 nights and was very very happy with the place. Neat and cozy rooms, perfect hosts and wonderful service.
The cottage is just of the main road close to the bus stop and a gas station making it a convenient stop.
Thanks to Rosemary and Linda for making our stay memorable.

Stayed for 2 nights in April 2013, can't fault this for a guest house. Lovely owners, very dog friendly, very clean comfortable room (4)
The sheets were not the usual B&B quality but lovely comfy and very clean. I know this sounds an odd thing to notice but I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and not noticed the quality of bedding as I did here.
