Denton House B&B Guest House

Our party of 6 have stayed at Denton House regularly over the past few decades and have seen the transfer of ownership over 2 or more generations of the family. It remains a gem amongst Lake District B&Bs. Rooms are generous in size and kept perfectly clean. Not all are en-suite but most have private bathrooms just across the corridor. Breakfast is excellent. And, as others have commented, the Armstrongs do everything they can do to make things work for their guests. 2 of our party needed somewhere to sit after checkout to wait for lifts to Carlisle and, even though the owners were out, we were given access to the lounge for the mornng. 2 mislaid phone chargers were mailed home the next day. Great people, great accommodation. And Hesket Newmarket has a wonderful pub and excellent post office and store.

We arrived here early afternoon on friday after excellent communication with the owner about the weekend. We were allocated a top floor room that had a double and single, we also had a dog with us. All I can say is that this was a brilliant place to stay - 2 doors away from the fab old crown pub where we ate, and drank... each night.

The rooms were very very comfy, very well decorated and had full amenities that you would expect.

Breakfast was good, even so on day 2 when we were that stuffed from eating so well all weekend, the landlady just made us bacon buttys !

Fab stay, will stay again. Fully recommended.

Our 2nd stay at Denton House. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. The owners are very friendly & nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a lovely, warm comfy bedroom with en suite. Spotlessly clean & very spacious. The breakfast was freshly cooked & delicious. We had secure bike storage in the garage. We love The Crown, which is virtually next door, serving excellent ales & home cooked meals. We will return :)

Stayed at Denton House for 1 night over Easter weekend. Perfect location, the village is really quiet and pretty. The b&b suited us down to the ground, very welcoming, owner booked us a table for dinner at the pub next door (Crown I think? Also excellent, brews its own real ales and we had a delicious pie), allowed our little dog in our room and just left us to our own devices. Room itself was warm and cosy, comfy bed (if a little rickety), tv plus tea & coffee-making facilities. Bathroom particularly nice, looked new - only thing was the shower could have been a bit more powerful. Lovely breakfast, fruit, croissants etc followed by full english plus a pot of good coffee (I need good coffee in the morning!). We would definitely return to Denton House. Paid £80 for double en-suite room plus £5 for the dog, which I would consider good value for the quality of this b&b.

Stayed twice now for business at Denton house - always a friendly welcome.

Great breakfast! The sausage and mushrooms particularly nice.

The family can't do enough for you - I was allowed to spend the day in Denton house after checking out (which is a bit early at 0930h!) as it was -4 outside and I would have been pitched up in a field in my car otherwise. The wifi is free and you can come and go 24/7 if needs be.

It was cold though! Although this may have been more to do with being ill prepared for the cold snap than anything else. Bathroom was particularly cold - although I was glad to get en suite as there are some rooms with a shared (aubergine!) bathroom.

I'm sure that it is also a great location for those wishing to explore the area for leisure - the village is beautiful with a very helpful post lady in the post office and the old crown pub is awesome - must remember to review it as well!!

All in all a very decent and reasonably priced place with lovely people.
