Everything was as pictured only better- we were looking for a two bedroom unit with at least 2 queen size beds (this unit has one king, one queen, bunk beds in the room with the queen bed and a pull out queen size sleeper in the living room) and two bathrooms for 2 adult couples- this was just right. The master bedroom has a king bed and has a private master bath as well, a high ceiling with a ceiling fan. It has a window that can be opened to hear the ocean at night. The other bedroom has a window that faces the open air hallway facing the parking lot, it has a queen bed (the mattress is quite firm) and bunk beds that we did not use. The second bathroom has a stand up shower, triangle shaped, the shower head has good height and very good pressure. The master bath has a lower shower head in a bath tub/ shower, not conducive if you are tall. The kitchen is well furnished- dishwasher, full size refrigerator, microwave, garbage disposal, stove and oven, coffee maker, toaster- all the basics in very good working order. There was pots and pans, plenty of silverware, plates and glassware. The washer/ dryer unit are compact but very handy to keep up on laundry. There is a flat screen TV and DVD players in both bedrooms and a large TV in the living area with DVD player, many many channels. The Wifi is very dependable and quick. Plenty of room in the dining and living area. The living area also has a vaulted ceiling with a ceiling fan. We had a small issue regulating the temperature- the master bedroom and living area would be cool, but the second bedroom would be a bit warm. The decorating is very tasteful and there is a fair amount of drawers and big closets for plenty of storage. There are quite a few books under the TV. The balcony is spacious, the furniture was the basic white plastic variety, but adequate. The unit is on the top floor which allows for the vaulted ceilings, also no noise from overhead. The week we were the two neighboring units seemed un-occupied, so we never heard a sound from an adjoining unit. Also because you are on the top floor the balcony is completely exposed- meaning on a sunny day you have great exposure, conversely if it rains there is no balcony above it give you a break from the elements. The designated parking spot is close to the elevator/ entrance, it seemed a bit small, we let passengers out of our small SUV before backing in- however the parking spot behind it of exact same size had a Cadillac Escalade parked in it, so it was plenty adequate.
Separate from the unit which we loved- Sea Colony East- the east side units face the ocean and are a bit like a several "W"s in a row- the first unit is Annapolis, then Brandwine, then Chesapeake- they continue to the letter I with Island house at the south end. Annapolis and Brandywine have a smaller unit (2 stores with a tall roof) in front of them so if looking at those buildings- be aware you will need to be 4-5 stories up to see the ocean. Chesapeake has nothing obstructing its view and with this unit being on the top floor it has a great view. The elevators were very quick and always operating. They have small bin like carts that are great to move your things in and out- it seems that those that have stayed at Sea Colony before know to squirrel them away Friday night, as they all disappear for Saturday AM when you need to check out. The beach is designated non-smoking- a huge asset for us. Though dogs were not allowed??- we saw plenty- being walked on the property and even in the elevator- not so sure I would want a barking dog as a neighbor- which we could hear barking from time to time. Gripes about Sea Colony- parking at check in (across the street) is inadequate for the volume of people checking in at once- so after a long drive from upstate NY to have to circle the parking lot for 20 minutes to get a spot is not a great way to start a vacation. We had two vehicles in our party- locating the designated parking spot the first time was a bit of a hunt, they are labeled, but not in order, they jump around. Next beef was the 2nd 'un-designated' parking spot- we came in on a holiday weekend and there was not a second spot to be found- when asking the security officer that mans the parking lot booth- he suggested there might be a parking spot on Mars...not what I wanted to hear after along drive and wanting to get settled into the unit. That sent me back to the rental office to complain- they suggested lots on the west side of the complex- a shuttle ride away from our unit- I was very disappointed to be told this. It took an hour and 15 minutes for me to find a spot in an over flow lot across the street- I am glad I am 'young' and the very long walk back to my unit was manageable. By Monday this situation improved and parking could be had for the 2nd vehicle on the same side of the road as Chesapeake House. However by Friday it was packed again with the same problem. Final gripe- the master bedroom bath tub was absolutely filthy at check in- we called the office and within an hour housekeeping was there to remedy this as well as some cobwebs and dust near the master bedroom windows. The recovery was quick and apologetic- this again in not a gripe with the unit- but with the company that manages it. Check out was very smooth- no parking problems- we had to be out by 10 AM, and we there within minutes of that time.
We would highly recommend Chesapeake 904 as a great unit to stay in.
