This was our first visit and we took advantage of the 3 course meal offer for £19.95 (currently available weekdays evenings).

The restaurant is on two floors (the upstairs can be used for private dining/parties). The interior is quite contemporary for the age of the property but still retains an elegant feel. This is a good place where you can enjoy a degree of intimacy. Linen table cloths and napkins.

Our choice of meal:
• Small carrot & coriander soup as a taster with home-made bread.
• Salmon mousse, smoked salmon and prawn starter
• Slow baked lamb, green beans and mange tout and fondant potatoes.
• Chocolate mousse, chocolate fudge-type cake and white chocolate ice cream.
• Coffee and home made sweets/chocolates.

The meal was well cooked, portion size was just right, vegetables were al dente and the pudding very good. Not too sure about the soup which, for me, had an after taste and I anticipated that the lamb would be traditionally roasted, however it was shredded and formed into a round mould - still tasty though.

Wine was reasonably priced – Good quality Sauvignon blanc at £22. Service was very attentive and swift. Almost too swift as we were onto our main course after half an hour, but as other guests arrived after us the service slowed down so that we were able to relax and take our time.

A la carte prices were higher; £19 - £22 for a main course, but we noticed that the portions were much larger than the 3-course special.

Would we go there again? Yes, but probably only if the 3 course special is offered.

We have been satisfied clients of the Souffle for more than 15 years.
Our favourite table is by a window in the downstairs part of the restaurant allowing views of the courtyard and fountains as well as mopping up the general ambiance of the old yet elegantly decorated building.
Last night the restaurant was full, as well as having a private party upstairs but the service, as usual was courteous and professional, unrushed but responsive!
We ate a mixture of menu and a la carte which was all up to the high standards we expect, beautifully presented and, for us, the right portion sizes, allowing us to clear the plate. The slow roasted lamb was particularly delicious, the best I have tasted for a long time.

For us this remains our clear favourite in the Maidstone area and we would recommend any discerning diner to give it a try!

This was our third visit to the restaurant. The service has been excellent on every occasion and at no point did we feel rushed to make decisions or to finish. This time we took some friends as their birthday present. The set menu changes regularly, and is based on seasonal produce. The price does change depending on when you visit - Lunchtimes are excellent value. On Saturday evenings there is only an extended set menu and the price is the same irrespective of whether you have two or three courses. Saturdays evenings are much more expensive than during the week! Unlike many restaurants the desserts are all made in house, and consequently very delicious with superb presentation.

Food was very nice but decor very dated. Staff were very young but done their best. It felt very unrelaxed which was not helped by the owner correcting us on what we ordered(my daughter wanted a certain veg & was told it did not go with her dish).
All in all it was ok but did not live up to expectations a bit of a step back to the 80's

The food we had here really was first class. The ambiance and the service was classy without being snooty or stuck-up, and - considering the quality - the cost was really reasonable. I'd highly recommend this place. We had to wait a long time between courses, but this suited us quite well...
