This was our first visit and we took advantage of the 3 course meal offer for £19.95 (currently available weekdays evenings).
The restaurant is on two floors (the upstairs can be used for private dining/parties). The interior is quite contemporary for the age of the property but still retains an elegant feel. This is a good place where you can enjoy a degree of intimacy. Linen table cloths and napkins.
Our choice of meal:
• Small carrot & coriander soup as a taster with home-made bread.
• Salmon mousse, smoked salmon and prawn starter
• Slow baked lamb, green beans and mange tout and fondant potatoes.
• Chocolate mousse, chocolate fudge-type cake and white chocolate ice cream.
• Coffee and home made sweets/chocolates.
The meal was well cooked, portion size was just right, vegetables were al dente and the pudding very good. Not too sure about the soup which, for me, had an after taste and I anticipated that the lamb would be traditionally roasted, however it was shredded and formed into a round mould - still tasty though.
Wine was reasonably priced – Good quality Sauvignon blanc at £22. Service was very attentive and swift. Almost too swift as we were onto our main course after half an hour, but as other guests arrived after us the service slowed down so that we were able to relax and take our time.
A la carte prices were higher; £19 - £22 for a main course, but we noticed that the portions were much larger than the 3-course special.
Would we go there again? Yes, but probably only if the 3 course special is offered.
