We we in a party of 8, food was very average service ditto such a shame. Strikes me there is a degree of complacency running through the restaurant. One example would be how many restuarants aspiring to fine dining only serve filter coffee at the end of a meal? Suggest owners visit Kathton House in Canterbury whose prices are similar but service and food are on far higher level.

Visited Souffle for the first time last night with a group of 8 friends. The service was amateur, the food was certainly not worthy of the price, £38.50 per head excluding drinks and service, and the experience was disappointing. The first two courses I ordered, scallops and beef fillet, were lukewarm as was the case for others in our party. The two of us who ordered the fillet (a £5 supplement for this) were not asked how we liked them cooked, I like mine rare, my partner likes his well done, they both arrived medium rare. The uninspiring vegetables were few and overcooked, the best part was the mashed potato. The tarte tatin was extremely hot, cloyingly sweet and the pastry was soggy. They offer only filter coffee and the petits fours were very ordinary. The surroundings were fine but several of us were cold. Our bill came to almost £500 and we'll not be returning.

We had a special reason to book at Souffle. American friends were visiting us. They were over for 3 weeks and dropped in to see us and have a spot of Sunday lunch. They were soooooo impressed with this wonderful restaurant. The quality of the service, the food and the location
was excellent. Indeed even the setting/location impressed them. Looking out over the Bearsted
village green, "Awesome!! " ...... there words not mine..

Two very impressed Americans will return singing the praises of Souffle. We will be returning in the very near future.

Just had fantastic meal here - despite having lived in Bearsted for many years this was our first visit - and will be the first of many as food was really gorgeous, service great and excellent value for money with 3 courses for £22 including glass of wine! Couldn't fault it - really lovely evening!
