“Quiet and Peaceful”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

Our first time in the South East of England and we feel we couldn't have chosen a better place. Not wanting to be in the middle of a town, we found the Marriott to be well placed and in a very quiet neighborhood. It was five minutes from the heart of Bearstead, a small village, and only 15 minutes from Maidstone, if you wanted shops and a city. It was also only a short drive from Bearstead to Canterbury, Dover, and anywhere else in the region we wanted to visit.
The room was quite and cheery, with plenty of room for our seven day stay. From top to bottom, the staff went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was always clean, the maids doing a top notch job. The front desk took wonderful care of us, getting us directions to tourist sites, restaurants, or whatever. No request was too small. We played a round on the golf course and once again, the staff couldn't have been nicer. The starter spent at least 15 minutes with us giving us pointers on the course and a few places to be aware of. He even came out to us on the sixteenth hole to make sure we were all right. We ate breakfast evey morning at the Conical restaurant, and even with a buffet setup, it was so varied in scope, we never felt like we were eating the same thing every day. An evening meal in the Zest bar was enjoyable and most tasty. Good value, as the portions were sizable.
Once again, from top to bottom, the staff at Tudor Park were friendly, engaging and some of the best I have ever experinced. This is the only place I would stay on a return trip to Kent.

Stayed one night on a work trip. The Hotel is a mix of new, modern and run down. The pool area and Sauna are nice, the steam room and changing rooms need some attention but fine for a one night stay. We ate in the bar lounge the staff here and in reception couldn't be more helpful everyone was very friendly. The food was of a good standard.

A beautifully situated Hotel. Very extravagant furnishings.

Comfortable, large bedroom with the usual tricky shower!

As usual with large Hotels, a conflict of different customer expectations, resulting from the very comprehensive Gymnasium and swimming facilities. A large presence of Gym enthusiastics, in their shorts and trainers, Course/Conference participants in their torn denims and holiday residents in their smart informals! Resulting in the Restaurant being an untidy disappointment!

Splendid breakfasts!

As a Veggie, I was very disappointed. The usual dreary options on the menu, resulted in a bespoke main course of a few green leaves (the salad) and a poached egg.....£15! Necessitating about half-an-hour to prepare!

Next day, a complaint resulted in money-back, a detailed, very reasonable and courteously presented apology.

However, policies and plans are one thing, what is delivered appears to be another!

Stayed here for one night on a work offsite. The common areas of the hotel are very clean and quite contemporary. The rooms were generous with free wi-fi and more than adequate ensuite facilities. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was very busy so there was a good atmosphere. The food was OK - ribeye steaks were a bit over-done and quite small. Not cheap either at £24 but the menu was quite varied so plenty to choose from. We played golf in the morning and the course is only average at best but it catered for a range of abilities which was good. The room rate was £162 which I thought was a little expensive but included a full breakfast (cooked, cerials, pastries etc) however there was a lot of hanging around as the hot buffet trays were always running out and it seemed to take ages to get them re-filled. Also has a spa and a swimming pool but didn't use them.

Modern hotel on a golf course, near Maidstone. We thought our room was fine, with comfortable beds and a large, clean bathroom. Just on the cusp of needing heating (September), which seemed to be “off” throughout the hotel however. Nice linen and good towels. No robes.

WiFi is an outrageous charge of several ££ per 24 hours – please get into the 21st Century Marriott – I expect electricity to be included in the price of my room AND therefore, in the same category, WiFi! It costs you nothing - why rip off the guests? (That cost you a Tripadvisor “blob” Marriott - what a pity!)

We were there for the golf (2 rounds), which seemed excellent value including dinner and breakfast (one night). Lunch in the “bistro” – basically a daytime golfer’s hangout was excellent – “pre golf nosh.” Prices not unreasonable.

Dinner, that evening (included in our package) was excellent. Main restaurant was closed (Sunday), but where we were was fine and we enjoyed the food, ambience and service.
Breakfast, next day, was ample, tasty and the bacon and sausages were clearly local and delicious.

And the golf….? The course is short(ish) and carved out of an old estate. Maintenance is a little skimpy and the greens could have used some more care. That said, the back 9 are very pretty and the course is undemanding – just how we higher handicappers like it! Basically, it’s an upmarket pay and play - and I would play there again. If you are off single figures, don’t expect a challenge.

We enjoyed our weekend, which was excellent value on a Sunday/Monday. We could not get out on the course until the pm on the Monday, and the terrace by the fishpond, for a couple of hours, in the September sun was delightful. But the WiFi costs .....!

Stayed one night. Had booked a king sized bed but was allocated twin beds due to wedding functions at the hotel. Room was still very nice. Good choice at breakfast and great gym. Good service at the mezzanine bar.
