“Delicious and wholesome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

My husband took me here for my birthday while we were visiting the area for a mini-vacation. It came highly recommended by the owner of the B&B where we were staying. The food is really amazing and lives up to the quote of Carole Peck "...Handcrafted, seasonal, local & organic as possible, definitely natural, love-inspired, pure & truthful, genuine & sophisticated." The atmosphere is casual. Staff is friendly. My husband had the Lots of lobster mac & cheese and there was a ton of large pieces of lobster throughout the dish - not mashed up pieces of lobster. I had the special autumnal soup (butternut squash) and quinoa salad. Everything was very fresh. The only disappointing part was that they charged $1 for the bottle of tap water they put on the table. Just the principle of that just didn't seem right. Otherwise, the prices were fair for the amount and quality of food you get.

“OMG! Yummy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Was hiking and visiting a friend in the area, and since I no longer live in the state, had not been here in years. Had forgotten what a gem this restaurant is. When last here the lobster mac and cheese was to die for and is still on the menu. This time, at the end of a cool and blustery day, comfort food was in order, so I had the free range, organic chicken. Another in the party had the same. The wok veggies that come with it were very tasty, but not being a fan of the buttermilk mashed, I passed them on and they were appreciated by one of my dining companions. One of the folks ordered the pad thai, and unfortunately it was way too vinegary, but otherwise the dish was a bit more inventive (shiitake mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes) than what is typical for a restaurant. The apple tart we had for dessert was devoured and the coffee from an area roaster superb! The wait staff was also pleasant and had good suggestions. Can't wait to return again.

“Night out w three generations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

Five of us came together for dinner to celebrate a field hockey win earlier. Excellent homemade bread, lobster soup, carrot sweet potato soup, pork, and a special of elk stuffed squash. Really enjoyed everything. First time here. Desserts great as well. Service friendly and efficient. Took some chocolates back to dorm to share w students. I'll go back, as liked the creative and eclectic ambiance and food.

“Never quite right”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2013

I have dined here over a dozen times, but not by choice; being outvoted by friends. My problem is the quirky food. New and interesting combinations can be good; here they are not. Most of the dishes do not succeed. Frequent overuse of vinegar ruins some dishes. Several years ago I returned an inedible dish which the menu did not properly explain. An angry chef and owner (Carol Peck) visited our table with barely controlled anger demanding to know the problem. Who needs that. It is a shame because I believe the restaurant could deliver tasty food. The ingredients are always fresh and good quality. The surroundings are pleasant and informal. The service has always been fine. Small but good and fairly priced wine list.
