Mersing is about 135km from Johor Bahru. There are at least three paid open air car parks near the jetty, at 12 RM per day.
The place is dated, but fairly clean. There are lots of insects around - ants, mosquitoes, sand flies, houseflies, but that's to be expected in a "natural" setting. The beach has lovely powder white sand. The sea is fairly clear, and there's corals and rocks just in front of the hotel. There are some fish swimming around to interest a beginner snorkeler. But coral bleaching has affected this area too.
Yes, they are building a new jetty, but the noise levels over the weekend aren't too bad.
They only provide bar soap, so do bring your own toiletries like shampoo, toothbrush, comb, etc. but there's a hot shower, and the airconditioning works well enough. There's no TV in the room, but there is a large screen in the reception. They also have a billiard table at the reception, and a small library of books. And they provide free WiFi at the reception & dinning areas.
Overal, a nice weekend getaway.

If you come here with the idea of laying on the beach and not much else then you will love it.
Friendly helpful staff, food and drink prices very reasonable. The buffet at lunch and dinner is good and the beer is cold.
The bungalows are set in a nice garden, there is a nice pool if you are fed up with sand in your shorts. The rooms are pretty basic, no tv but you get what you pay for. The AC works!
There's nothing much else to do though, no bikes or cars, we went for a walk but there's not much else on the island apart from a few monkeys.

First if you havent' booked a package, you have to take into account the speed boat transportation in addition: 90 rm per pers/ per way.

When you arrive near to the Island, you see That they are building a new jetty: its really noisy whereas you come on this Island to find quietness.... When it Will be finished, it Will be better
Besides, we were unlucky cause there was petrol some the beach...
According to other travellers there was a storm which make it hapens.
The Island is Nice without this.

Coming to the hotel, we were welcomed with an orange juice, good point.
We were given the key to our bungalow, luggage is brung to your room.

Then the night mare begins! The bungalow is old fashion, the bed was not cleaned (some yellow marks on), fridge was dirty... The lamp broken with mold...
The room smells with a particular smell...
We asked to change sheets!

On booking.com, it was written That it left only few rooms, whereas the hotel was almost empty...

On the restaurant: no mans land! Nobody eats there.
We understand why after having à breakfast there... Tables are dirty, beer cans...

To sum up: avoid this place!
Its not a good place to stay...

We had a great time at Aseania resort in our recent family holiday early July 2012. The resort staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The buffet food which came with our room package was tasty with good variety. Free flow of coffee/tea and cold beverage throughout the day. Live band every Saturday with BBQ spread for the dinner buffet. NIce bar too. Overall it would definitely we a revist for me and my family in the near future. Suberb General Manager who added a personal touch to our holiday.

Room Tip: Choose the seaview, got a nice view.

Very helpful staffs. We have only good memories in this resort.

Will be surely visit again, hopefully for a week or more.

Beware of sea urchin.

Room Tip: Seaview Chalet is of course the best. Remember to bring your own shampoo and toothbrush + toothpaste.
