First if you havent' booked a package, you have to take into account the speed boat transportation in addition: 90 rm per pers/ per way.

When you arrive near to the Island, you see That they are building a new jetty: its really noisy whereas you come on this Island to find quietness.... When it Will be finished, it Will be better
Besides, we were unlucky cause there was petrol some the beach...
According to other travellers there was a storm which make it hapens.
The Island is Nice without this.

Coming to the hotel, we were welcomed with an orange juice, good point.
We were given the key to our bungalow, luggage is brung to your room.

Then the night mare begins! The bungalow is old fashion, the bed was not cleaned (some yellow marks on), fridge was dirty... The lamp broken with mold...
The room smells with a particular smell...
We asked to change sheets!

On booking.com, it was written That it left only few rooms, whereas the hotel was almost empty...

On the restaurant: no mans land! Nobody eats there.
We understand why after having à breakfast there... Tables are dirty, beer cans...

To sum up: avoid this place!
Its not a good place to stay...

We had a great time at Aseania resort in our recent family holiday early July 2012. The resort staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The buffet food which came with our room package was tasty with good variety. Free flow of coffee/tea and cold beverage throughout the day. Live band every Saturday with BBQ spread for the dinner buffet. NIce bar too. Overall it would definitely we a revist for me and my family in the near future. Suberb General Manager who added a personal touch to our holiday.

Room Tip: Choose the seaview, got a nice view.

Very helpful staffs. We have only good memories in this resort.

Will be surely visit again, hopefully for a week or more.

Beware of sea urchin.

Room Tip: Seaview Chalet is of course the best. Remember to bring your own shampoo and toothbrush + toothpaste.

This makes a good alternative to stopping in Singapore for a few days, especially if you have a late flight out of Singapore on your last day and don't feel like filling in time from checkout until your flight goes many hours later. We had a 3 day stopover in Singapore, which was long enough to get to Pulau Besar and have a relaxing break before heading onwards. We were lucky enough to have few other guests staying at the resort. The rooms are a bit dated but perfectly comfortable - we spent the extra and got a beachside cabin and a meals-included package and this was worth it - the chalets to the back of the resort look quite OK but being by the beach was better. The food is also good - not brilliant but definitely not bad.
Getting there: Depending on how much time you have, and what time you arrive in Singapore there is a bus from Changi direct to Johore Bahru (goes every hour via each terminal but is often full so if you are are Terminal 3, it can be a risk) and then a bus from JB to Mersing - we ended up staying in JB because we arrived late into Singapore and then got a morning bus to Mersing - about 2 hours - the hotel arranges the boat from Mersing and unlike the other islands - Tioman and Rawa, the boat trip is very short - only about 30 minutes. On the way back, we got a taxi from Mersing to Changi - this took about 4 hours jetty to airport and a lot less hassle than the bus+bus option, especially going across the Causeway but about 4 times the price. There are taxis at the jetty and you just have to ask around - someone will be willing to go to Singapore but you will have to bargain - you'll do better if you have Singapore dollars. As we had an evening flight out of Singapore, we could stay on the island until after lunch, and be at Changi comfortably in time for check-in.
