“Treated Like Dirt”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

I have eaten at Katz's many times and have always found the food to be adequate, but not up to New York deli standards. But this is New Haven...

I decided to order from the catering menu and bring a deli platter for 25 to a friend's house. I arrived at the agreed-upon time and it wasn't ready--hadn't even been started. After listening to the kitchen staff argue with the wait staff for 10 minutes, I asked for the food to be delivered. Shortly after delivery I got a call from the owner, YELLING at me for being such an unreasonable customer. When I said I was going to hang up the phone, he screamed "Oh no you're not...you're going to listen to me!" Pretty incredible after making a $300 order. When I mentioned this to my friends they laughed...apparently he has a rich history of treating his customers this way. You can take your chances with this wacko, but I'm never going there again.

“The Last of the Jewish Delis in New Haven”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

If you love New York style Jewish Deli this is the closest you'll get to one while in New Haven (actually, Woodbridge). By New York standards it gets a C - noisy, not exactly clean - our waitress was nice though

“Outstanding”

This is a classic New York style Jewish Deli. The Matzo ball soup is to die for and if you are passionate about your Pastrami like me you sure can't go wrong at Katz's

“Amazing Food....a Little Pricey though”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

This restaurant opens at 11:00 and people call with to go orders by 11:05. The sandwiches are amazing, however, very pricey. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a huge salad or amazing sandwhich...just be prepared to pay a little more.
