“Staff are rude!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Pha, the manager who is really nice, has a bunch of part Philippines, part Thais doing terrible work at this otherwise ok budget resort on one of the most beautiful islands in the south. If you can, AVOID the reception staff, he will only make you feel stupid when you smile and ask for information. Also, make sure you get the restaurant manager, shorter Philippine girl, to attend you in the restaurant since the rest of staff speaks no english and you end up receiving things you did not order, without a smile! Bungalow is ok for what you pay, very basic but clean and serviced daily. In general, staff is not interested in customers but more in being connected on internet, making you wait before they send off their latest whatsapps!!

Room Tip: Any beach front bungalow is more expensive but worth the extra money

I have to come to the defense of this place in some respects. Firstly if you are seeking a luxurious resort then move on, in fact the Seven Seas Resort next door looks lovely, and I am sure you pay for it ! Yes, by Thai standards this place is expensive, but it is still relatively cheap compared to any other place you may holiday.

The setting here is simply amazing. It's called paradise beach for a reason. This is what you came for, the bungalow is just somewhere to sleep and wash off the salt water after some amazing snorkeling.

The front row bungalows are kept more than the second row, the third row looks derelict, and are all empty. Yes, it is a pity that they are not better maintained. There are so many things which they could get right with a very small amount of effort. Bit of a pity really. some of the other accommodation on the island looks worse though !

I think this place has a pretty decent restaurant. The food was really tasty, and yes compared to Trang it was expensive... but remember $4 for a meal is not gonna break your wallet ! nor is $2 for a beer. The only complaint was the portions were very small. Almost laughable. I could of eaten 2 meals easily at dinner time. As for how long it takes... who cares. What is the rush ? You are meant to be sitting in paradise without a care. Grab a beer and stop complaining.

As for the staff.... well yes they could be a little more professional... that said... they are working from dawn to dusk every day... probably for very little. If you ask them for what you need you get it... so no big deal really. As for the music... yes absolutely shocking in the evening.

On the whole I really enjoyed staying here, once you get over the basic room and challenging bathroom facilities it's all good.

Room Tip: Beach front only !

We stayed at one of the 5 "longhouse"-rooms, and switched during our stay because of day-to-day reservations.
We booked the first night from an agency in Trang which also organised our trip to the island. At arriving, we were welcomed by some guys from the resort, who carried our bags. The formalities at the reception were not unkind, but certainly not welcoming either.

For 1200 baht/night, the room (nr. 10) is not what you would expect elsewhere in Thailand. It is very basic, with a standing fan, 2 hard beds with nasty springs, a small table, a cold shower, a tiny sink and a toilet. A typical room you would expect at 300 baht. However, shampoo and bath gel is provided, as is 2 bottles of water each day. The bed linen was clean, as were the towels. (they smelled freshly washed). Because of the location we accepted the price.

The restaurant is an absolute horror. Loud, soulless music (which only the staff seemed to dig), the service is very bad. Bored, very unwilling and unkind. When I came up to the bar to order a drink, two staff members were posing for a photo, while a third took a picture of them and they let me wait until they all had admired the picture. I had to actually ask for their attention, even though they had seen me waiting. They were very rude, which made us decide to go to another restaurant the next day.

The food was very mediocre; not bad, but certainly nothing to write home about. As a vegetarian, they wanted me to pay the same price for 'fried rice' as for 'fried rice with pork/ chicken/ squid'.
For the same prices you get wonderful meals (especially the curries) at the restaurant inside "paradise lost" resort, including sincere smiles!

The free breakfast is one of the better things. Unlike other reviewers, we pretty much liked the whole deal. It is a buffet-style set, with toast, 2 types of cereals, milk, coffee, tea, ovaltine, a selection of vegetables, fried rice, fried egg, orange juice (not fresh, but okay), cake and fruit (melon and pineapple). It makes for a good free lunch as well, if you prepare it during breakfast time (7:00 - 9:30).

Room number 7, however, was worse. The bathroom started to smell of sulfur after we showered, we woke up from the noise the staff made early in the morning and the beds were very bad.

When we checked out, we heard a couple fighting with the staff. They had complaints about the room and didn't want to pay for it, since the room was not as promised. I couldn't believe how rude and unprofessional the staff at the reception handled it. The couple had also complaints about the bad service at the restaurant (they had to wait two hours for their drinks) and a staff member told them they should be glad with the restaurant, because they didn't apply any service charge. That really made us laugh out loud. Service charge when there is absolutely no service at all?
After hearing this, I told them my complaint about the service, and the staff member actually picked up his phone and started to have another conversation while I was still talking to him. Unbelievable.

It's really a shame that the staff is being so rude and careless. It could be so much better at such a nice location. I guess they don't care, because customers will keep coming there for the nice location. I wouldn't recommend it! There are other nice places on the island to stay.

Room Tip: Certainly not nr. 7! IF you are to choose a resort anyway, take a look at Sevenseas Resort next door...

We have never put a bad review on trip advisor, as we normally are very flexible, but this hotel must be avoided at all costs. On arrival our deluxe sea view (not) at a cost of 2800thb per night, found the rooms to be dark, unkept, and the bathroom was a disgrace black mould clung to the Walls. Air con had a mind of it's own, and had no hot water that was supposed to be inclusive of price. The location of the room wasn't far from a generator which was on constantly. Staff were totally uninterested and never had a smile or a welcome. The breakfast was a farse, there was never food available and when it come we had no plates, glasses, and cutlery to eat with, it was just like a circus. (I even washed up some glasses to have juice).

On our first night we ate at this resort unknowing what we were in for. Again service was terrible, we were 4 people and all ate separately, despite the Resturant being almost empty, food portions were tiny and cold. Plus we were entertained by mice running along the beams overhead.

Do not go. Book this at your peril.

This is a 3rd time travelling round Thailand we are middle aged and have experienced all types of accommodation, please avoid this one. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got the cheapest room, might as well have slept outside. If you've stayed on any of the Andaman islands, you'll notice a theme of limited competition, few amenities and high prices. The Kradan Beach Resort easily wins this race to the bottom. The rooms look like they're still being renovated, no blankets or towels, some windows wouldn't open, some wouldn't close, the door handles were just chunks of scrap wood. Thankfully I may have forgotten any other imperfections that even the most basic of Thai hoteliers wouldn't have screwed up. I have empathy for the overworked, unappreciated staff of Asian resorts but no one seemed like they wanted to be there. The restaurant featured uninspired, undersized dishes at inflated prices. The restaurant is also located way too close to the longhouse where the cheap rooms are, so if you go to bed early be prepared to hear people yelling and laughing until whoknowswhen in the morning. Kradan Island however, is amazing and the next time I come here I think I'll camp (most of the island is a national park). Not recommended.

We stayed at Xmas for 2 nights. Beach front bungalows had nice view on nice beach. The beds were hard and if bathrooms had hot water we didn't get any. Saw a rat on front porch, but barely worth mentioning. Staff impolite and uninterested. Food takes hours to get to you, but is tasty never the less. Communication a real issue and we speak fluent thai. They appear to be untrained family who just have no clue of what to do or what is expected from guests.
