“Delicious food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014 via mobile

We went with people that had been here before and love it. We were seated promptly and the waitress arrived immediately to take our drink orders. Salad and soup was served immediately. We order the soft shell crab appetizer as well as the duck crepes, both were delicious. Sushi platter was very good and so was the pad Thai. Overall, food and service were both very good and I would definitely return.

“Very Disappointing.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2014 via mobile

My last visit was very disappointing. From the very beginning the entrance was dirty the door handle was loose, the menu was sticky and had food substance all over it. The hostess stand had a women looking at the reservation book but she never looked up to greet us. I ordered the calamari it was rubbery and the coating very thick and tasteless. I sent it back but the waitress was defensive. There was fruit flies around the table and the sushi chefs were napping at the counter!!! Needless to say we won't be returning.

“First and absolute last time going here”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

Our party of 11 made an advanced New Year's Eve reservation for 7 pm - we were finally seated at 8 pm (several other parties with reservations left after waiting over 1 1/2 hours) so in that regard we were lucky. The hostess came by and without prompting she promised to bring over several complimentary appetizers due to the extraordinary wait - they were never brought to our table. Finally 11 of us were crammed into a hibachi table for 7 people. Waitress and the chef kept having words because they were in each other's way. Drink order came about 20 minutes after being seated, orders were taken - first the soup (no problems), then the salads (2 of the salads came without any dressing - not ordered that way). Finally the chef arrived at the table about 15-20 minutes after the salad course. The chef was nice enough, but did not "perform" as in most hibachi restaurants - no knife skills - all the veggies were precut. Rice was prepared - lack of seasoning. Then the noodles - ok but again nothing but soy sauce - salty. The proteins were finally plated about 20 minutes after the rice and then the veggies about 10 minutes after that. All in all, we realized things are a little different on a busy holiday, but this restaurant should have been better staffed and better organized. They overbooked and over promised. The restaurant itself was not very clean - meaning the waiting area, the surrounding tables, and the hibachi grill areas - we had to ask the chef to clean the grill before he started cooking our meals. We would NOT return to the Sake Café nor would we recommend this restaurant regardless if it is a holiday or not. This is our first and last experience at Sake Café.

“Worse and worse. I'm done”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

This place used to be so great and it's gone downhill but now I've had my fill. Beyond rather mediocre food recently, the service has been ATROCIOUS. And oddly, the last few times I have been there in the last 12 months, the sushi chefs and / or servers have been having screaming matches right in the middle of the place. Holy uncomfortable!

We sat at the bar this last time, had to flag down a waitress for drinks, had to ask her to please bring the drinks 15 minutes later and we finally grabbed our own food that had been sitting on the top of the sushi bar for 10 minutes, And THEN she brought out appetizers. After the lack of attention continuing, we had to get our check from the hostess. Wow. Very, very lousy service. I'm not going back. There are other places with equal or better food and MUCH better service, Save your $ and check out somewhere else.

“A carbon copy-”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

We are frequent diners at Sake in Bloomfield and happened to be near the Wethersfield location so we stopped there for dinner. Although the layout and décor is different we were delighted that the food and service is the same. Simply the best Japanese cuisine in the area. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Service is quick. Try the rock shrimp, I promise you won't be disappointed.
