“Popular Seafood Joint by the Singing Bridge”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2010

The best things about Bill's Place are not the food, which is fairly average. The location on the Patchogue River and the rotating series of live bands are what really make this a great little joint. We danced to rockabilly and big band sounds (believe it... a 22 piece band inside by the bar), and sometimes there's a Dixieland jazz ensemble.

This summer the lobster rolls were generous, the fries crisp. So that's an improvement over years past. Vegetarians will have little choice... baked potato, mesclun salad... that's about as adventurous as they go in this fish and chips type menu. All served on disposable plates. Nothing classy here.

The waitresses are friendly but so overworked we always end up paying a different one. Sometimes they don't get the order quite right, too. Perhaps that's what really sums the place up... casual, friendly, food not important.

“dont go for the food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2010

recently went back to bills (after an initial unimpressive visit) at the urging of a friend who claimed their clams were better than lenny and joes. this friend said prices were better also.
so took a chance again. both claims untrue..they are more pricey than lenny and joes and food doesnt even come close. stick to l & j 's in madison for this type of food.

“Fair tasting food, great fun!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2009

My family and I grew up in Westbrook...Bill's is known for their fair tasting food...but EXCELLENT for their nightlife, live bands, large outside bar, etc.

Lots of outside picnic tables...however, the tourists constantly feed the seagulls and pigeons so don't be surprised if you are harassed by these birds...tie your shoe and your meal is gone!

Good overall in my book. A much better clam-shack exists down the road...I do not think I am allowed to put its name in this review.

“Good for exactly what it...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2008

Good for exactly what it is- quick place for broiled, fried or raw seafood and a few cocktails after a day on the water. Picnic tables make eating with the kids easier. Expect little and you'll get a lot.
