“Worst service I have ever encountered...”

We had dinner at Restaurant at Water’s Edge on Sat. Aug 18, 2012 while staying at the resort for a “Ladies Weekend”. To be fair and objective, I will say that the atmosphere, décor and view were beautiful and our meals were excellent… delicious and beautifully presented.

Unfortunately, we experienced the worst service of our lives that evening. We were seated and then completely ignored by our waitress for a period of 45 minutes until one of our party went back up to the desk and requested a waitress. She reluctantly arrived and took our drink order. After she had not returned for another 30 minutes, we again had to inquire back at the desk. At the time, there were only 16 people in the entire restaurant and we appeared to be the only table in our particular waitress’ section. She returned with our drinks after basically being ordered to do so by the Manager and then informed us that we would need to submit our appetizer and meal order at the same time as it was getting close to the time when the kitchen would close. She brought everything out and that was the last we saw of her. She never returned to our table. She never asked if we needed anything else and never inquired how our meals were. Meanwhile, a gentleman at another table accidentally knocked a plate off their table and no one even went to assist him. He cleaned the spill up off the floor himself with napkins. The only time our waitress actually came to life was when she noticed her very appropriate12% tip. She stormed over to our table with a scowl on her face demanding to know “what the problem was” and ranted that she had to share 30% of her tips. We were very happy to explain why her tip was significantly less than usual. By the time we got out of the restaurant, we had missed the show we had planned on attending. To add insult to injury, we shared our opinion regarding the abhorrent service with the Manager and his response was a shoulder shrug. No explanation… no apology… no class. Never again…

“Really gone downhill”

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The last time we were here was for my birthday/Easter brunch last April (2011) and we haven't been back since. I don't think we'll ever be back. They charged a premium price for the holiday buffet but the lines were long, the food was mostly cold and picked over. The selections were very limited and fresh food was not put out. Very disappointing.

“friday night dinner”

Good food as usual
- flank steak and file mignon were both VG - salad but nothing special
- nice fresh veggies, but duchesse potatoes were hard and dry - no flavor
why a restaurant as nice as this can't serve warm bread or dinner rolls of some sort is beyond me ....

desserts good

we were seated in lower level dining room so dad could use the elevator - we were only ones there until just before we finished - seemed rather lost

some pleasant music would have been nice since it was such a dreary rainy day and the outside sunset bar was not open....

menu complaint -
online states that friday night features italian menu - also printed in menu handed out at the table for dessert and after dinner drink choices.
we asked waitress for this menu when we sat down and she said it was no longer served - then why is it still online ( easy to fix) and in the printed menu - sloppy/careless/annoying

“Service without a smile”

If you call for a reservation, make sure you have what you ask for in writing. The front desk staff is aggressive on the phone and in person. They simply don't care. I assume in the summer it is busy but its best to remember those of us who come to spend money in the winter. Don't bother asking to speak to the manager because you will get his voice mail and not get a return call. Perhaps monitoring the desk for customer service and adding another manager would be helpful. Hold your breath and hope for the best.

“Nice Place”

This great place to go year around.

We have been here many times for different occasions.

Sunday brunches – Their brunch is the best! Hands down no questions asked.
Drinks and Dinner at the Bar- good service, wine selection nice
Saturday outside on the patio – good food… a bit pricy – great view of the water- good music on the weekends.

New Years Eve Party – very disappointed – too crowded and food was just ok.
Spent a week in the time share – very nice

Your going to pay a bit more at this place. The food has consistently been good.

The only problems I have noticed is at the inside restaurant there seems to be tension between the staff and the management. I have seen this on many visits and it distracts from the experience. Managers being rude to staff in front of customers.

I experienced it one time myself went I mistakenly walked through the dinning room trying to get outside. The manager was rude and gave me hard time in front of other customers. A simple “please let me show you the best way to get outside” by the manger would have been the best way to handle it.

Overall a nice place and we continue to go there.
