“Good for little one's, but a bit pricey”

The museum is great for smaller kids and has a few neat, interactive areas. Its costs is comparable to other bigger children's museums but it doesn't realky compare in size and exhibits. They do have a nice animal area with a lot of wildlife and they bring the animals out for some hands on teaching. Other than that though, it was too much money to repeat, but it was a good way to spend a rainy morning.

“Great for younger kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

I always worry if a "kids" museum will be for bigger kids or if it is geared for all ages. I have to say the West Hartford Children's Museum is a big hit with our two year old. She loves the turtle are, the play house/toys, the imagination station playground, the life size light bright and the Lego land area. She not that into the animals at this point but did enjoy the life animal demonstration. They do have a butterfly farm open in the warmer weather but I haven't seen that yet. The planetarium was OK but hard for a two year old to sit still.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. You can hang your coat up on the wall and walk around hands free to enjoy the amusement. There is a huge sperm whale replica outside that our daughter loves to play on and climb inside.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

I took my niece and nephew here this summer. I'm not sure if our experience was due to it being summer vacation and the museum is a childcare center, or if we so happened to go on a day that didn't have much going on, but we were all extremely disappointed in the museum. When we went a few years ago, there were so many more educational activities and entertainment. I'm rating this trip average because I know they have the capability to do better.

“Visit with your Kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

This is a great place to spend the day with your children, even very young ones. There are many exhibits and interesting spaces. I favor the animal exhibits. My son loved going when he was little and his first job as a teenager was at the children's museum.

“Needs a full renovation not much to see”

Animals and reptiles are in small empty enclosures. Place is in need of an overhaul. And really it's pretty Boring. Costly for the size
