“Great food, awkward experience”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Our first experience at Rizzuto's was very good other than having an awkward waitress. All of the food was fantastic and the smell of the wood fire made for a great atmosphere.

Our waitress seemed to be busy with other things or just didn't want to be there on the night we dined, however the host helped her out and made up for her slack. The idea of having 3 different employees serving us was awkward and somewhat took away from the experience.

I did fill out a customer survey they provided and the manager followed up with me and personally invited me back to dine with them and offered drinks and appetizers on the house. This left me feeling good about giving it another shot and I'll be more than happy to.

“Bad Food - Bad Service!”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

What a disappointment. I don't mind spending good money for good food but tonight's experience was good money for bad food and bad service.
The penne vodka was salty, and the sauce was too sweet and not smooth & silky as a vodka sauce should be. The kale salad was tasteless with a really salty crouton.
I intentionally mention the penne first and the kale second because that is the order the courses arrived - main dishes before salads.

First trip to Rizzuto's will be the last!

“Bait & Switch”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

went to rizzuto's on july 4th at 6pm. we were a party of 5 and looking forward to their new england lobster bake special for $20 (ad in west hartford patch). imagine our surprise and disappointment when our server told us they were out cuz they ran out of lobsters! she claims they only had 15 lobsters! WTF??!! it's an advertised special and we were there at 6pm! definitely a BAIT and SWITCH to lure customers in for the special. how can you even have the audacity to have the statement on your business card "Creating Lasting Dining Relationships..."??
we thought about just getting up & leave but since we were visiting from out of town, decided to just order from menu. i had the pappardelle bolognese which cost $21 and on the small side (portion-wise). others had pizza, chicken, ravioli & cavatelli. all were small portioned and on the salty side.
btw...since it was a holiday & being from oot, not sure if it was necessary to feed the parking meter for our car parked directly in front of the restaurant entrance so asked the greeter and she did not know. she asked one of the waiters and his reply was "It is not on my to do list to find out if it is free parking today"! great answer :(

“Excellent food and wine”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

I had dinner here with my husband, and we sat outside and ordered a bunch of small appetizers for dinner. Everything was fantastic! We got the cheese, meat and vegetable antipasti, and all of it was delicious. Their sauce and bread is really tasty and enjoyable. We also got a small salad and meatballs, and both were delicious. We had a few different wines, and they were all great as well. It is clear that the owner of this place spent a lot of time in Italy because it is very authentic.
