We found this villa to be perfect for our family holiday with three generations. The location is superb, only a short stroll to several good tavernas and two supermarkets, and close to good beaches on both sides of the island. Divarata is a very convenient location for touring the island, which is beautiful and still largely unspoilt, well worth seeing. The villa is attractive and spacious, well equipped and furnished, and the beautiful pool is a treat and was very popular with us all, with plenty of seating and shade. The views from the villa and pool are wonderful. The owners were very welcoming, meeting us at the airport and even providing us with refreshments upon arrival late in the evening. The best recommendation we could have made was to re-book it for 2018 - we tried but unfortunately our dates were already booked. Oh well next year perhaps...
Finding a villa that is suitable for 8 adults and 2 children is not easy, but Villa Myrtos was the perfect solution for us. We travelled with three daughters and their partners and 2 grandchildren. The layout of the villa suited us very well, with one daughter + husband and 2 young children on the lower ground floor in a self-contained unit and the rest of us upstairs. This was especially good for the evenings when the children went to sleep and the rest of us all sat upstairs on the covered balcony.
It can get very hot, but the position of this villa means that the breeze that picks up most afternoons blows up the valley straight through the doors - very refreshing.
The upstairs bedrooms are spacious, fully air-conditioned with mosquito blinds at all doors. One en-suite and a large family bathroom between the other two complete with washing machine.
The pool area was perfect, perfectly secure and gated which was vital for us having a 3 and 1 year old.
It is a short 5 min walk into Divirata village where there are a couple of mini supermarkets and some great tavenas where we ate a few times.
It is a 5 min drive down to Myrtos Beach, or 10 mins drive to the beautiful fishing village of Agia Effemia where there are larger supermarkets, bakery, butchers, chemist, etc. Also, our favourite beach is there, called Paradise Cove.
Booking with Sophie was very easy, every question answered immediately, car hire booking taken care of, nothing was too much trouble. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the owners Vangelis & Micheline who presented us with a bottle of local wine and he kept arriving with fresh produce from his garden. This was service par excellance!
This was a fabulous family holiday which was made even better by staying at Villa Myrtos. The location makes it very easy for day trips around the island, especially to the north of the island, Asos & Fiskardo are definitely worth a visit.
We would not hesitate to return.
The house has everything you need, very comfortable, in a very quiet area, but very close to everything you need, beautiful beach supermarkets, restaurants. Sophie and her husband were very friendly and very helpful. Kefalonia is a beautiful island, in my opinion, more beautiful than Corfu, Sardinia or Corsica. I was astonished by Myrtos beach, the color changing every day, every hour. We've made paragliding on the beach, which was another amazing experience.
