“very bad value for money”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

-the rooms of the hotel are really nice
but taking into account the high price, the place should offer relative services:

a. there was no guidance (not even an island map) for the attractions of the island, even if we asked for this...
b. the reception -which is the owner of the hotel- did not even inform us for the buses or the boat of the island.
c. most of the habbitants of the island offer free transportation to visitors of this small island, just in order to help you. The hotel owners did never offer us something like that. It is worth noting that an owner of another hotel offered us to pick us to the town of the island and back to agios georgios ...
d. the breakfast was the smallest quantity of breakfast that we have ever seen.. taking into account the high rate of the room, and the fact that we were in the small island called Irakleia we where expecting a more hospitable behavior.
e. there was no wi-fi signal in our room. we called the reception 2 times, but nobody tried to solve this problem. taking into account the fact that the rate of the hotel was very high, we were expecting a different reaction from the reception...

i think that even though the rooms are nice, the main problem of this hotel is : lack of hospitality...

moreover i believe that a swimming pool should be included in the facilities of the hotel, taking into account the high rates of the rooms.

finally it should be noted that the location of the hotel was inconvinient for us...

We stayed at Speires for 5 nights. We were 8: 4 adults and 4 kids. We had booked 2 family connected rooms. The rooms were beautiful, decorated with a lot of taste, super clean and the huge shower was great. The owner and working people there were of such a kindness that we felt like at home with top service. The Menu is very nice, great dishes, fab shrimps saganaki or crab pastas with local products and new tastes. The breakfast is also delicious with freshly baked cakes. We adored the people, the place, the view, the localisation. We could only strongly advice this hotel who pleased us as much as our kids (aged 5, 7, 8 and 10). Thanks again for this memorable stay !!

Room Tip: The sea view is fantastic so if you have the opportunity to book a room with sea view, i would advic...

Our family, couple and 2 children, stayed at Speires for a week during June 2013. The hotel decoration and design was impeccable, respecting the traditional Cycladic architecture with no fake 'modernities'. The rooms were large and comfortable, especially those with sea view. Personnel was very kind and helpful, and the cuisine very pleasant with an interesting wine list.
Overall a reasonably priced hotel we would definitely recommend.

After having this hotel recommended by friends and after viewing the fist impressing pictures i was really eager visiting the island and the hotel which made me raise the bar too high.
Overall it is the best hotel in the island -due to poor competition- and one of the best in the cyclades complex comparing to its price. For 80 euros you take a newly built, spacious double room with a double bed, modern design -not so common to find good design in island hotels of this category- excellent view, super clean with fresh fluffy towels every day. The hotel is family run and the two ladies have really made an effort to differentiate and offer something better than the rest. The breakfast was also home made but for 7euros per person i would ask for more variety and better quality. Also there were no toiletries in the bathroom. So far so good. Service was overall good and really polite and helpful.
The problem though which we had to deal with and ruined our stay was the broken air-condition unit. With our arrival we were informed that the air-condition didn't work and that it would be fixed as soon as the technician would arrive in the island. We stayed for 6 nights and of course the air-condition was never fixed although it was promised to us again. After the third day of complaining nothing was done so we thought that there was nothing else to do.The result was poor sleep as some nights it was really hot and the noise/light made it very difficult to relax. And you would guess that the choice of the island was relaxation.
I hope and believe that we were really unlucky but what bothered us and is the reason for the disappointment was the non professional dealing of the problem from the owner. It is fun and nice to be friendly but one should never forget that being a professional is far more important than good intentions.

While searching for a place to stay on Iraklia, a tiny island belonging to what is called Small Cyclades, we accidentally came across Speires not expecting more than a clean and quiet place. To our amazement, that was probably one of the three best hotels we have ever stayed at. Both its architectural style and the decoration are in harmony with the natural surroundings while the view from the cafe and the rooms is breathtaking. We literally got stuck at its cafe in the mornings and afternoons tasting a variety of drinks and pastries. Do not leave without tasting Alexandra's banana sorbet. The service is more than excellent. Both the owner and the staff are always at your disposal without being obtrusive.

We just visited Irakleia (a very small and calm Island in Cyclades complex - next to Naxos) and we stayed at Speires hotel. The hotel was a big surprise, considering the island which is not yet developed. The hotel is well designed, modern, very clean and the rooms are spacious enough, with many facilities (i.e satellite tv, wi-fi, a/c, fridge), the bathroom is exactly what you expect to have. The service is very good, they change towels every day, there is a very nice lounge area with a nice view over the port of Irakleia and very interesting music background, the breakfast is amazing (home made and served between 8:30-11:30), very nice coffee, there are game boards available, one has the option to dine at the hotel (tip: you can pre order pasta with fresh lobster) and you can have a drink (nice cocktails) in the evening. The owners are very friendly (Alexandra and her mother will be open to answer any questions or needs of their guests).
We definitely recommend it !!

Room Tip: room with a sea view

We have visited Iraklia for the first time! The island is small and cosy, with great beaches and landscapes! Speires Hotel though....made our experience exceptional! Amazing premises, fine taste and passion for quality! Homemade food, even the icecream and big smily faces that make your day :-)))))! We also found great spaces in the venue for Yoga and other activities! We would like to visit again sometime :-)))
