“Excellent hospitality”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Our agent made a mistake and booked us in for the 30th August instead of July and when we arrived there was no vacancy. However the hospitality was excellent we were given drinks, beers on the house and the male German owner, manager and his wife all worked hard to find us alternative accommodation. The lodge looked lovely although we didnt see the rooms the main area, pool and grounds were very nice. We are sorry not to have stayed but based on the ambiance and the lovely hospitality shown to us can reccomend.

Room Tip: Excellent management, owner hospitality

My family and I stayed here before and after our safari. Although our group arrived about ten at night we were greeted by the owners and staff with hot towels and drinks. They also were willing to serve us dinner if we wished. We were fortunate to get a two story chalet which was very comfortable and even had a small refrigerator. Bottled water is provided every day to brush teeth and drink. There are several places to charge your electronics provided you have the proper adapters. You are provided with shampoo and body wash and a blow dryer(which didn't work). You can borrow one from the front desk. One day I had washrags the next day I didn't.The rooms were generally clean however my daughters told me their tub was dirty as was the powder room sink. The only problem we had as well as our group was the water kept shutting off or didn't come on at all. I don't know if this a a local problem or just specific to this lodge. When we called for help they came immediately to fix it. The grounds were very lovely and one of the staff was nice enough to take me around a bit and show me the various plants. It was very quiet and peaceful. Meals were consistently good and the the staff was wonderful. They did run out of certain items but I believe this just happened once. The pool and the lobby provided a relaxing atmosphere in which to hang out and read or use the computer.($5 for 12 hours of internet service) Overall a very nice place to stay but they need to get their water issues fixed if possible.

Room Tip: If you can get M1 get it!

If you are like most, you will stay in this lodge after a long and hellish day of travel thru African airports. It is beautiful! Unfortunately we arrived in the dark at left at 8 am the next day but were greeted by the owner (a German transplant) and had a nice buffet dinner. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable. Not an abundance of hot water. Shower in the evening! Luckily with the jet lag I was up early to walk around the grounds and photograph my first dic-dics. Had coffee In the lodge before getting the family up for breakfast. Lovely staff, beautiful lodge/restaurant . Hated to leave but I'm not sure there was much else to see in Arusha.

Arumeru is a very nice little lodge where we stayed just one night before heading to Lake Manyara National Park. It was a good place to relax after our flight from Europe. The garden is beautiful, surrounded by Diks-Diks and birds. The room was clean and comfortable as well as the shower.

We checked in at the Arumeru River Lodge (ARL) after a long flight from India. The place is well equipped with good rooms and good bathroom amenities - shower pressure was especially nice. Food and service were very good and the ambience is lovely with the lawns, trees (cacti and plaintains) and the resident dik diks and guinea fowls. Our night was indeed restful and we had a great overnight stay overall, before our onward journey to Manyara.. would definately recommend this place for a stay

Room Tip: closer to the dining area !!

We started and ended our safari here, and could not have been more pleased. The managers, Torsten and Marin are personable, charming and very helpful. They wisely insisted that we accept their offer of a light early dinner on the night we flew out, as they pointed out that dinner on the KLM flight would not be served until after the stop in Dar es Salaam, about midnight

.The food was as good or better than we experienced in lodges that were twice as expensive. The duplex rooms are clean and attractive, with comfortable beds and good shower pressure. There is a large swimming pool, and the grounds are a delight to walk through, with resident dik dik and guinea fowl interspersed with lovely blooms and bananas, plantains, papayas, guavas, ginger, and some of the largest and loveliest avocado trees I have seen.

It is a great way to start and end a trip to Tanzania.

Great place to start to our holiday in Tanzania. The owners are Germanwhich was great as we were a British/German couple. Not too impressed with the Dutch manager either so totally agree with one of the reviewers. However, the place is very nice and to be recommended. Esp as we organised a safary with Stanley at Arusha National Park. Not only was it a very good safari with excellent views of Mt Meru amd Kilimanjaro but Stanley was the best guide ever. Having done a few safaris before and also with hindsight he was by far the best. The rooms were very clean and nicely appointed but maybe a bit plain but we didn't stay in them for very long. The pool was amazing and the food very good and the owners were very welcoming indeed.

Room Tip: at the back where nobody walks past and one has river views.....although beware the mosquitos and mo...
