Hidden Valley Bed & Breakfast
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 14, 2011

We spent one night in Hidden Valley in October and wished we had booked for longer.
The host and owner Regine wasn't phased when we turned up a bit early and was so helpful, recommending and booking places to eat for lunch and dinner and helping us in planning our onward journey.
We booked the Red room, which had doors opening onto a terrace with a lovely view of the valley; the room and bathroom had every amenity you could wish for.
Breakfast the next morning was really good, I could have the berries and granola that I wanted, while my husband got his bacon, eggs and coffee.
Overally, I thoroughly recommend this place, it was a great experience and very good value- we would love to go back.

I've never written a trip advisor review before, I've stayed in some fantastic places, but this is the first time I've felt compelled to come on and write a review; to let everyone know how fantastc Hidden Valley is.
Though I don't know what else I can say, all the other reviews have it covered.
Our Hidden Valley experience was in a word PERFECT. We were made to feel welcome and at home as soon as we arrived.
Words can't describe the beauty of the house, guest rooms, grounds and effort made to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
On our first day we had the whole place to ourselves and enjoyed the peace and tranquility on the terrace; in the plunge pool and enjoying the incredible view of the valley.
We enjoyed the most delicious breakfast each morning, at a time suitable for us.
Regine gave us great advice for daily activities, nearby sights and attractions and made reservatons for our dinner.
I have already raved about this place to friends and family and can't wait to plan a next visit!
This is an absolute must for anybody visitng Connecticut.
Many thanks to Regine and Sam at Hidden Valley!

Hidden Valley is an unbelievable experience in the bed and breakfast world! The mansion itself is exquisite with every little detail in place much like a grand English country home. Whenever I turned to look for something in my room - it was right there. For example: we arrived late at night and wanted to sit outside by the (smallish) pool to enjoy the peace and quiet+the wonderful scents of the flowery garden. I thought to myself that I should have brought a small flash light just to locate the light switch outdoors, then I turned around and found one on the table - for this purpose exactly. We had similar experiences like that, over and over. I thought of something- and it was right there. The details are really what makes the whole!
Our wonderful host, Regine, was beyond accomodating, generous, warm, welcoming and in every possible way fantastic. She was incredibly kind and accommodating with our 3 1/2 year old, too, who may or may not have eaten all of her Gorilla Munch supplies :)
The distant views of the rolling hills is gorgeous and the property is very close to a hiking trail that is supposed to be amazing. We didn't get to see it, unfortunately. There were so many other things to do.
This is also horse country and you will find stables all over the area if interested.
The pictures on the website does not make justice for the experience you will have. I was pleasantly surprised throughout the 3 days we spend there. Regine is always booked up but I hope we can come back very, very soon! So very happy with our trip!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Red Room with our toddler: it was invaluable to have the kitchenette. We also sat o...

The experience is so unique. Your fun starts just as you drive up the hill with a long winding driveway covered by trees that eventually leads to a chateau. It makes you feel that you are in your own secluded villa. The scenery is picture perfect. The host Regine, is so hospitable and attentive. Her croissants and coffee are so good. It's hard not to find peace of mind in this place!

An amazing property in beautiful Litchfield County, Connecticut, run by an amazing host, Regine LeVerge.
The setting is unrivaled; the views and property are memorable; and the Inn provides so many comforts in unexpected ways.
A true getaway -- yet so close to NYC

This B&B is magical. The house is beautiful - spacious and tasteful, with lovely comfortable furnishings. The setting is gorgeous! There is a long stone terrace that runs the length of the house, overlooking the "hidden valley" you can see in the photos - there are multiple seating areas, so you can take in the view during the day and the stars at night (candles and snuggling blanket provided). Regine, the hostess and owner, is warm, welcoming and wonderful - easy to talk to and eager to insure your comfort. The breakfast is scrumptious and ample - yogurt, fresh fruit, muesli, an egg dish (baked eggs are a house specialty), bacon, croissants and jam, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. (Needless to say, we didn't need lunch.) The rooms are a delight, with lovely linens and towels and robes, and many kinds of soap to sample. Our two night stay was an absolutely lovely experience. We felt pampered, peaceful and completely relaxed. We were there in late summer - I'd love to come back in all the different seasons.

The area has lots to recommend it. Easily accessible: hiking, boating, biking, antiquing. Close to historic Litchfield (we followed the self-guided walking tour of historic homes, with the tourist info map - very worthwhile). And the B&B is close to a number of very good - some outstanding - restaurants (ask Regine for recommendations).

We absolutely loved this B&B and the hospitality of the owner/hostess Regine. The "Hidden" in the name is appropriate, as it is tucked far down a wooded driveway off route 47. This sets the perfect mood for the country estate feel that awaits when you emerge from the forest. While on the driveway, returning from dinner at one of the absolutely fantastic local restaurants Regine recommended, we encountered two barred owls. They flew within feet of our (thankfully) slow-moving car to land on branches not ten feet from us. We stayed and observed them for almost a minute in the dusky light before they flew off. If you're a birdwatcher, the expansive stone patio offers numerous comfortable chairs and lounges for viewing bluebirds, bluejays, hummingbirds and the ubiquitous robins (one of which was nesting just feet from the outdoor dining table), just to name a few.
Breakfast was very generous and delicious. There were fresh berries, a variety of yogurts and muslix, followed by hot croissants and toast and expertly prepared eggs. We stayed two nights, and so enjoyed omelettes and baked eggs (which were new to me but fantastic, infused with fresh herbs and cheese). You can see from their web site how beautiful the rooms look, so I won't go into that here.

One thing to consider; we have a small (9 lb) dog who was made to feel very welcome here. Regine has two small dogs who live here, and because the yard is so expansive, they can all spend their time off-leash. So if you are allergic to dogs or afraid of even cute, friendly critters, this might be a problem for you. Otherwise, it is a huge plus. No worries: there is no after-hours barking or any other "evidence" that dogs are in the area. This B&B has become a new favorite, and we'll be going back.
