“Splendid”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

I went off for a 3 day get away with my daughter, never expecting we would be spending thoes days in paridise. The beds, the linens, the service, the food, amazing. Now lets talk about the spa, oh my beyond anything I have expierenced. The quiet that surounds you is soul restoring, the massage, I have never had an hour and a half go so quickly. The grounds are beauitful, the pool nestled in to the Ct. lush of trees and gardens. We ate our lunch on a porch looking out on to a Shakespear garden, my words fail me. It was the most beauitful Hotel I have ever stayed in and I have traveled a lot. I am going back! Soon! Ann Watters

“The best restaurant in CT, hands down”
Reviewed January 30, 2010

Superb food and service, stunning CT country atmosphere. Expensive, but worth every penny for an elegant evening out.

“This place is pretty nice. I have always...”
Reviewed January 23, 2010

This place is pretty nice. I have always found Relais & Chateaux's to be excellent. The place I set back in the woods in a beautiful setting we went in January so there was snow and Litchfield county was just beautiful. Food was decent. Breakast expensive but good.

The spa here is probably the best I have ever experienced it's this huge separate building again set back in the woods they have these flavored waters that are excellent and some very nice facilites kept very clean ad update nice spa

no cable tv in the rooms they have a ton of movies in the lobby that you can borrow for free.

Nice place we are actually going back in a month and looking forward to it.

“Exquisite and Idyllic”
Reviewed September 10, 2009

I took my lovely wife for a midweek lunch at the Mayflower Inn and it was one of our most memorable dining eperiences this year. We arrived at the Inn around noon and drove up the meandering driveway and parked the car. The grounds of the Inn are lovely and well maintained. Upon entering the main building of the Inn, one feels transported to another place and time. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside and we chose to dine outside on the terrace. Our table for two was overlooking the Shakespeare Garden. It was a perfect weather day and the setting was serene and exquisite. We ordered our wine and I enjoyed my Loire Valley Sancerre and my wife was pleased with her spanish red. Our server then brought us a plate from which to choose various breads and bagl slices. We took in the beautiful surroundings and ordered our lunch. I had the Tuna Nicoise Salad and my wife had the Garganelli. My tuna was seared to perfection and the salad with figerling potatoes, olives and tiny egg was delicious. My wife said her pasta dish with the heirloom tomatoes was outstanding. We lingered over lunch and enjoyed the afternoon. We ordered dessert but told our wonderful server Wendy that we would like to stroll through the Shakespeare Garden for a few minutes and to wait for us to return to the table before serving us. The Shakespeare Garden was a beautiful formal garden. Inside the boxwood border were walkways with various plants and shrubs and little signs that contained short passages of the Bard's works. My wife and I took turns reading them to each other. It was romantic. We returned to our table and enjoyed our desserts. I had the Warm Chocolate Cake with almond ice cream and my wife had the Macadamia Tart with almond ice cream and caramel sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed both of these. We also ordered three pieces of cheese from the Cheese Selections. Two of the three were delicious and one was a bit too robust for my liking. Overall, our lunch at the Mayflower Inn was one of the culinary high water marks from a very good year of dining experiences.
