“Warm and Caring B&B near Killarney”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Tim and Nora are wonderful hosts. We arrived late the first night in rain and they had a warm peat fire waiting for us in sitting room. Tim guided us each morning to help us get the most out of our visit! Since we arrived in the cool rainy season, the bed warmers were an unexpected treat! Bathrooms were new and water was hot!

We ate a full Irish breakfast each morning in full view of the snow capped purple mountains. Food was excellent! Loved the porridge!

Tim and Nora spent time with us, sharing stories. A lovely place to stay!

Room Tip: Let them know ahead of time if you need a double bed. The have twin beds and double bed rooms.

We spent 6 nights at the Purple Heather and could not have had a better welcome. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast excellent! Nora and Tim were excellent hosts and made us feel at home. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

We stayed one night at the Purple Heather. The room was nice, the owner Tim very kind. We had to leave allready at 7.30 a.m. and without any problems he served breakfast at 7 a.m.. The location was very beautiful, you are surrounded by the mountains and have a nice view during the breakfast. But of course it takes some time to reach the town centre of Killarney. All in all we enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much Tim for your good service.

My daughter and I stayed two night at the Purple heather. Tim and Nora were very welcoming. The breakfasts were fantastic and started our sight seeing day out well. The rooms were clean and spacious. Having parking and WiFi also made a difference for us. We would recommend the Purple Heather highly.

A really lovely B&B. The scenery is breath-taking. Tim & Nora are so friendly...their home is clean, comfortable and situated close to the town of Killorglin. I heartily recommend The Purple Heather as the place to stay if you are visiting this part of Ireland.

Room small but cozy with all amenities. Spotless. The grounds are stunning. A full Irish breakfast (choice of French toast or pancakes!) is served in a lovely conservatory dining room with striking views of Ireland’s highest mountains, Carrantuohill. An excellent stay close to Ring of Kerry and Dingle.
Your hosts Tim and Nora are warm and charming, the essence of Irish hospitality. My husband and I hope to see them again! “And we’ll all go together to pull, wild mountain thyme All across the purple heather…”
