“Perfect country retreat”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

Really lovely B&B in picturesque Beaufort - perfect location for the Gap of Dunloe and a short car journey from Killarney town. Rooms were much bigger and of a better standard than we were expecting. The dressing table was a lovely bonus! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Great selection and quality breakfast - don't miss the variety of homemade jams on your toast!

We stayed for two nights, attending a wedding in the local Hotel Dunloe Castle, which was very convenient. Only wish we could have stayed for longer and explored more of this wonderful part of Ireland. We only had time for a tour around the Dingle peninsula which was breathtaking. We would definitely consider staying at the Beaufort Lodge again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. The lodge is well tended with beautiful country-cottage style gardens and parking for around 5 cars in the drive.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 5 which overlooked the back garden and was very spacious. No bath, just a shower t...

The title of this review could probably be said about most of Ireland, but especially Beaufort Lodge. In fact, I wish I owned a house like Beaufort Lodge. First, JJ and Ulrike are two very nice hosts that are very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and very accommodating. We were traveling with my family and took up 3 of the 4 room. We had the family room as we were traveling with our 15 month old. A crib and even some toys were provided. The family room is very spacious and has a kitchen area. The room was perfect for the 3 of us. The other rooms in our party were also very spacious and comfortable. We had our choice of amazing breakfasts and there was so much food available that you're almost assured you don't need a lunch for the day. The location is ideal (at least in my opinion) - nice and quiet area, but only 10 minutes from Killarney, and right at the start of both the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. Two of the three nights we stayed at Beaufort Lodge, we ate dinner within 3 or 4 miles of the B&B. I'm sure we will return to Beaufort Lodge some day, and as I said in the title, I wish I was still there.

Room Tip: The family room is perfect for traveling families, especially those with small children. While the c...

This was our first visit to Ireland and we were very lucky to spend 4 nights at Beaufort Lodge in Killarney.
It is a wonderful B&B and Ulrike and J.J were the perfect hosts making us so welcome, our room was lovely and clean and it was huge, we were fascinated by the windows which could open several different ways, always a pleasure to come back to at the end of the day.
The breakfast room was delightful and we had a great selection to choose from, I note in my diary that I wrote.........Wow, what a breakfast!!!!!!!!
Beaufort Lodge is within easy driving of most things. One of the highlights was a buggy ride to the Gap of Dunlow with 'Bob and his horse Beauty', and of course the Ring of Kerry and Dingle should be on everyone's to do list.
So thank you for sharing your lovely home and for showing us Bella's babies, we hope that they have all got good homes.
We would highly recommend our family and friends to visit Ireland and stay at Beaufort Lodge, it would be lovely to get back there ourselves one day.
Cheers, Wayne and Sue from NZ

Room Tip: Our room was No4, it was a corner room, very large and sunny, the ensuite was also very big. Nice o...

The bedrooms are big and welcoming guest! the house is near from a very very very good pub (Kate), the hosts are very kind and very good counsellor.
For the breakfast you have a menu. (good cheeses!)
I don't know the price.
You should see the ring of kerry and the ring of dingle, it's really easy starting from this bed and breakfast.

Spent 5 days with the owners. Home made breakfasts were very good, and the hosts looked after us very well. A warm and friendly welcome and meticulous attention to our needs. Very quiet, and convenient for most attractions in Kerry

I stayed in this lovely character house for a couple of days. I loved the family atmosphere and the amazing breakfast which was every morning something special. The House has a wonderful and peaceful feeling and garden.
Killarney, nearby Gold courses and other major attractions are easy to get through by a short car ride. The rooms and the house have everything which I needed and aspected.

Beaufort Lodge is everything a B&B should be. We loved our stay and the only downside was that it completely spoilt us for the next place we stayed. The house is picture perfect nestling in a beautiful cottage garden. Inside, the rooms are gorgeous. Really simple, spacious, light and airy. Polished wooden floors, pale wood furniture, kingsize bed, white billowy duvets. Just a 10-15 minute drive outside Killarney, on the road to the Ring of Kerry, it was such a relief to arrive in peaceful Beaufort after the hectic, tourist-packed streets of Killarney. After unpacking, we sat in the lovely garden and John brought us tea and home-made scones. Ulrike prepared a delicious breakfast, with a great choice including full Irish as well as fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads and homemade jams from the soft fruit grown in the garden. John and Ulrike are very friendly and helpful, suggesting great places to visit and eat, including the Strawberry Field Pancake Cottage for afternoon tea on our way back from the Gap of Dunloe. For photos of Beaufort Lodge look at their Facebook page rather than the website, which doesn't do it justice. John and Ulricke deserve their 4* rating and at 75 Euro per night, we found it superb value.
