We arrived at this spot thinking it was a little off the beaten track and not expecting the high level accommodation we got - in the room, the amenities, the people and and the breakfast. We were traveling through so not able to do two nights but they were gracious and worked with us which was really worth it for us, The rennovation of the historic property is fabulous and we were very pleased. Mo was multitasking like crazy (she told us later) but we would never have known because the timing (and taste) of breakfast was perfect. We were invited to choose whatever time worked for us which was a nice touch.(The next night we were in a different spot which had been pitched as really special - when it actually really suffered by comparison - wished we could have come back to Rooster Tail!) We were there the week before the storm but are not surprised at the review of those who were there for the weather. Highly recommend the Rooster Tail.

Room Tip: Were in the downstairs front room - it was quiet and nice natural light

We arrived for a two night stay at the Inn. We were greeted by the energetic staff from the restaurant. Once we settled, we had a lunch that parallels any fine restaurant in the area. The room was very well appointed with touch's such as towel warmers and high end soaps. Felt like we were at The Plaza in NYC.
Breakfast was superb...we cancelled prearranged dinner to dine at the Inn. Unbelievable menu and fine wine list. We will be back in the spring! Owners are hands on and good people. Cocktail hour was great! Thank's Mo!

I've always felt that bad weather tests the resourcefulness and hospitality of a hotel. This weekend was no exception. On the second day of our visit to the Rooster Tail Inn, a rare October major noreaster storm roared into Connecticut, dumping 15 inches of snow, downing trees and cutting power to the inn and just about every town around. The owners and staff uncorked wine, did the best they could to feed us without being able to cook, managed to light a few lamps off of generators and made the whole event into an adventure. The next morning the chef dodged downed trees and wires to get in early enough to make a buffet breakfast and get us dug out. It was a great experience, and given that it's only 2 hours from home we'll be back again to enjoy the inn again and the wonderful service and hospitality the staff and owners showed us and the others caught in unexpectedly challenging weather.

Room Tip: We had the minimum room on the first floor and it was spacious, comfortable and had a small sitting...

my wife stayed there when it first opened a few years ago and raved about it. we pickup our kids at a nearby camp so it was the perfect opportunity for me to experience the inn for myself. no disappointment whatsoever. i'm not a hotel snob (i do, however, typically stay in 5-star hotels because of my work) and i will take the inn over most of the fine hotels i stay. what the outside lacks in charm, the inside more than makes up for it. the rooms are decorated in just the right tast for a b&b in the ne region..the bathrooms are not over the top, but are sufficient for a 3 or 4 day stay. the restaurant is equivalent to any 4-star reataurant you'll eat at in any major city (without the pomp and circumstance). the small exercise room and sauna are sufficient for any exercise enthusiast would need for a few days away from home (i used the appalachian trail for my 20 mile run). we enjoyed ourselves so much at the inn it might not take the kids pickup day to get us back there..

Room Tip: stuck my head in all the rooms and you can't go wrong with any of them

We stayed here for a weekend with a group and just loved it. Suites are roomy and comfy, the restaurant is very good, the inn is just lovely! Mo and Cliff, the owners, do a wonderful job of making you feel at home. A cozy bar area near the entrance where you can easily mingle with the friendly locals. If we are ever in the area again we will make it a point to spend a few nights.

Upon entering the Rooster Tail Inn for the first time I felt a certain calm and comfortableness I have hardly found anywhere else. The Inn has been exquisitely renovated/updated by it's loving and professional owners Mo and Cliff. The rooms are generously sized to fit varying needs and every time my family has stayed there the Inn has been impeccably clean. The Inn is what brings you to the door, but the staff is what makes you want to come back. Rarely have I seen the level of friendly and thoughtful service that we have received at the Rooster Tail. Whether is is Aubrey in the dining room or Ben at the bar, my family including 2 young boys has always been greeted with open arms and a friendly smile. The tavern is the heartbeat of Warren and the dining room serves wonderful moderately priced food. If that is not enough, the owners Mo and Cliff are such wonderful hosts and after being there so many times I consider them friends. When traveling in Litchfield County the Rooster Tail Inn is my choice for top accommodations, food and most importantly service. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

I have to say I was blown away by the character and stylish decor of this inn. Every room is unique by offering different modern amenities yet maintains an old school charm . Our room had a chromatherapy tub which was a delightful treat. The hospitality bar was quite generous and the inn was immaculate. However, the most desirable quality about this inn was the staff. My boyfriend took me there as a weekend getaway or so I thought. To my surprise he was planning a marriage proposal and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Lauren, who works at the inn, took the time to listen to his needs and recommended the perfect room for us. She arranged to have my favorite flowers waiting and hand picked delicious chocolates and champagne for us to enjoy. Everything we requested the staff made happen and then some. They make the best bloody marys and offer an extensive dinner menu . The restaurant setting is quaint and the food was delicious. The best part of our experience at the Rooster Tail Inn (aside from our engagement) is they treated us like family which made our special occasion even more memorable.
