“Awesome B&B”
Reviewed September 5, 2011

Our trip to the Inn at Mount Pleasant couldn't have been better. Our room was beautiful - spacious, bright, and clean and the private (huge) bathroom was gorgeous. After settling in, I decided to read for a bit on the porch and was surprised when Bob, the innkeeper, came over to offer me a glass of wine. Of course I accepted and sat on the porch reading and sipping the wine. Shortly after, my boyfriend and I decided to go for a walk and Bob and Maggie were more than happy to help us figure out a good path and even gave us a flashlight in case we were gone when it got dark. When we arrived back at the inn, they made us a fire out in the yard and we sat and chatted for a while. They are so likable and hospitable, it's impossible to not want to come back.

In the morning, we enjoyed a continental breakfast - toast and english muffins, fruit, coffee, and Bob's amazing potatoes. We chatted with another couple who were staying there and enjoyed the homey kitchen.

One thing to know before you go - Bob only takes cash and checks, no credit cards. You'll love Bob and Maggie and their hospitality will make you want to come back soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mason Deming Room and it was great

The Inn is amazing. It is a renovated farm house with four guest rooms, each with their own bathrooms. The 2 rooms we saw had unbelievable views! Both rooms were very clean. The 1 we decided on was bright and the bed was very comfortable. The innkeeper is a very relaxed retired man. While he did not actually cook breakfast, a continental breakfast was available, he did give us the run of the kitchen. We took over the fridge; we were the only guests there that weekend, and the oven. This will be an AMAZING spot when the leaves turn!

Room Tip: Ask for 1 with a view. There really isn't a bad room...just better views.

The innkeeper at The Inn at Mount Pleasant Farm is friendly and relaxed with both people and dogs. He provides an immaculate inn that guests are welcome to make themselves at home in. The grounds include a barn that can be explored and acres and acres of walking and hiking in rolling hills and along a pretty stream. You are out in a bucolic setting and can stroll grounds that are lovely. The innkeeper had a wood fire going outside which lent great atmosphere. Guests are welcome to use the refrigerator for special food items they might bring along, or leftovers from dinner out at a nearby restaurant. Breakfast is cozy and relaxed, muffins, cereals, juice, brewed coffee and tea. We brought our friendly dogs, who had a great time. We all enjoyed our stay and will look forward to returning.

If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of your crazy life
and enjoy serenity and fresh air, this is THE place.

Set up on the hills of Torrington, the Inn at Mt. Pleasant is a beautiful
retreat on Mt. Pleasant farm. The innkeeper Bob, with help from Maggie, did a
wonderful job renovating and decorating the farmhouse. Nice rooms with
modern bathrooms- comfortable, clean and air conditioned with flat screen
TVs- but who needs the TV. The best view is in the kitchen and common area
where you look out onto open fields.

Bob makes you feel like his friend right away- his kitchen is your kitchen-
so feel free to make your own breakfast or have him whip up something for
you- but don't forget to try his potatoes.

Plenty of property to hike and explore.

Bob and Maggie can provide suggestions for local attractions and places to
eat and are well versed in local history.

You won't be disappointed- we already made our next reservations!

Had a great time at "Bob's B&B". Gorgeous country setting - white New England farmhouse, red barn set against green hills, trees & stone walls. Bob was a good, non-intrusive host with a wry sense of humor. Extremely low-key. Rooms were nice, handsomely appointed and fairly neutral (no doilies here!) without feeling like a generic hotel. It felt like being in a very nice guest room. I liked the relaxed way Bb ran the Inn - definitely not high maintenance. The breakfasts were good - you eat in the kitchen where Bob prepares the meal - like being home with family. Will say there was no shampoo or conditioner - so plan ahead.
