I would like to go to the Inn and have it smell like food....not like old dirty bar mixed with the underpinnings of nursing home

Stopped in the other night and was most pleasantly surprised. Instead of being served flash frozen, homogenized food, we actually had meals with fresh ingredients. What a nice change. The food and service were really very good. We came here from Providence RI and were spoiled with great fresh and exceptional tasting food there. CT seemed to be nothing but mediocre and blah. I can't wait to try Suffield Inn again to see if they are consistent.

my dining at the suffield inn began with a warmly welcome by the restaurants polite and yet utterly adorable hostess she made sure to seat my party and i in the best available table that the restaurant had to offer
then our waiter was introduce to us and imediately asked if we would like refreshments or some wine
the restaurant's menu had a variety of entrees which all sounded delicious
i started off with an appetizer, it was their Fiesta Platter which was by far the BEST appetizer ive had in years! the serving size was HUGE and for a cheap price...totally worth it
for my main entree i had the Shrimp fajitas which in fact made the entire room of customers have their moment of jealousy as my smoking fajitas made their grand entrance and on to my table
their fajitas are to die for!
what made my visit more pleasant was the supervisor(who may be the owners wife i believe) who made sure that our experience was great she even offered us free desert! xD
i would like to say that the suffield inn is now my favorite restaurant

I have been to the Suffield Inn many times and have tried a variety of food and drinks. My experience at the bar was pleasant but also very crowded. I felt bad for the waitresses behind the bar trying to get their own drinks only to be shoved out of the way by a woman or the bartender. Not to mention not one person looked happy to be working there. Maybe that would be different if things were more organized back there. Another time my husband and I were seated in the dining room. Which on one hand was a great atmosphere but I could tell our waitress had tables all over the restaurant. I understand some things could not be helped when it is a busy time. The food was so-so. I had chicken milenease while my husband had salmon primavera. Both dishes were a little plain and it took a long time to get our food. The waitstaff seemed to be pretty busy I saw no one standing around. My husband and I were a little uncomfortable when who I am assuming is the owners wife just glared at the tables as they ate. I am astonished to say I saw her shove her employee out of the way after mumbling a quiet "excuse me". Of course I dont know the whole story but I would not expect any place of business to be run in this manner.
My husband and I came in another time to have a quick bite at the bar table. Our burger and tuna melt were excellent but we did not have the best experience when, I assume it was the owners wife, sat at the front table and glared at us, the staff and other patrons. Whoever it was did not seem to be a friendly lady.
Lastly, the Tavern had a bad reputation for having the staff drinking while on the job, and considering what happened there, I assumed alcohol would be very monitored now. While at the bar I saw three boys drinking draft beers. I thought, theres no way they were 21. I was then surprised to hear that they had just finished their senior projects! It seemed as if the drinking age is not strictly enforced.
I will tell my friends and co-workers of my husband and my experience and hope someday someone will establish a nice restaurant in the heart of Suffield.

My husband and I have not been in there for 10 years. We were pleasantly surprised at the choice options. Although we just had nachos and a salad, wine, it was very nice. Tasty and a good price. We like to sit at the bar, which we did. The bartenders were very pleasant and accommodating, but we noticed that the wait staff had to go behind the bar for filling water pitchers and it was very crowded. Drinks were mixed right where the wait staff had to be, and there was some discention going on. At one point the waitress getting beers for her table, spilled the beer on the floor and my pocket book. It was never cleaned up, nor an apology offered.

The bartenders need more experience in mixing drinks. They spilled vodka from the bottle and measured by eyeball. They didn't have proper tops for the liquor bottles to
pour from. A waste!

All in all, we will go back. The decor looks like it did in 1967, the outside of the building
looks like there are problems with ventilation. I think the new owner will update after
he gets established, which I think he will. Suffield needs a place like that, and it's the sort of place friends can go and have a nice relaxing time with decent menu choices options.
