I have traveled many places around the world and this was one of the worst experiences I have had. The room was dismal with a bed that sloped to the center and a heating unit that was extremely noisy. The advertised wireless internet kept dropping the connection, causing my daughter to miss a deadline, losing 6% of her grade. Parking was only allowed in the hotel lot, and they charged 7 dollars on top of the outrageous nightly rate. This place needs a total renovation before I would try it again.

As an alum and a Huskies fan, I was in Storrs for a basketball game at Gampel. Can't beat the location, as it's the only hotel within miles of the arena and campus. Incredibly convenient. Can't believe they went so long without a hotel near campus! Check-in was simple and quick with friendly reception. Parking was secure, but pay for it! Rooms were nothing special, but clean and adequate. Beds not so comfortable, at least when compared to Marriott, Hilton, Hampton, etc. Pool and fitness room looked fine (did not use). Knowing this was the only hotel on campus, i wasn't expecting a value price...but i wouldn't call it gouging either. Price was fair. Again, can't beat the location!

Recently stayed at the Nathan Hale Inn while my daughter was attending her Orientation at UCONN. Got a great orientation rate for the one night. It did not include breakfast. I stayed in a King Size Handicapped Accessible Room. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Easy access to everything on the UCONN campus. The staff were always very helpful and courteous. I had dinner at a great Italian restaurant in Mansfield and lunch at a sushi restaurant right near the campus. The breakfast at the hotel was somewhat expensive but it was very good and well presented. We will be staying here again for Parents Weekend given the location and the price of gas.

This is a great location as it is the only hotel physically on the UCONN campus, but signs getting to the hotel are lacking and you have to discern between a dorm and the hotel.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially as I checked in during a complete black out.

The rooms are standard hotel rooms and the beds are quite comforable. There is also free wireless. I found the heater/air con to be ineffective (always blowing cold air and no clear way to switch the heat on). I ended up turning it off as the room temp was better without the cold air and the fan was quite noisy when it turned on and off every 20 minutes.

The pool and hot-tub are nice additions and very comfortable.

The Oak Room for dining is average, the menu was a superior presentation of average food. My medium steak was more on the medium-well side, but the salads are very good.

The bar? Remember, this is UCONN, there is nothing within a 20 mile radius and you are a captive audience. A martini was 8 dollars and a Sam Adams was 5 dollars. These are NYC prices for cow country.

So, in general, if you need to visit UCONN you will enjoy the hotel, but mostly for the location. Aside from that it's not too different from a HoJo or Radisson.

The Nathan Hale Inn is conveniently located on the main campus at UConn. It is a modern facility that is very clean and well kept. Staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. We avoided the high prices at the restaurant downstairs by eating at the pub next door. The bar menu selection, the food and the prices were all very good. Wireless internet access in the rooms was a big plus, bring the laptop. It was really convenient to be able to walk the campus without having to worry about finding parking, which is very limited. Room was very nice, very clean, could set thermostat to precise desired room temp. On the minus side are the $6.50 per day in parking and the 20% occupancy tax/fee which caused an already high rate to swell even larger. There are not a lot of options nearby and definitely nothing as nice in the immediate area. All in all a very nice place to stay.

This is the only "hotel" in the UCONN run town of Storrs. Being a captive audience keeps business pretty steady at Nathan. Although it is about $200 for a king room, the hotel almost lives up to that price. Amazing large Beds and pillows. Pretty good food!
While I'm sure bad experiences were had, it really is the only option unless you want to stay just off the Highway 17 miles away, or in a B&B. 12% tax for CT doesn't sweeten the deal, but then you don't have another choice...
