“Change of pace”

Stonington Vineyards

Visiting vineyards is one of my favorite things to do for a change of pace from the casinos. Stonington is one of five or six vineyards in very close proximity to the two casinos.

It is one of the more established vineyards in the Southeast CT area. The wines are good and representative of CT wines including a popular white blend. The grounds are nice. As mentioned in other reviews, the tasting room seemed more rushed and less inviting than other vineyards in the area, probably due to their popularity and loyal following. They have a festival that is very well attended and worth a visit.

If you like wine, this may be the attraction for you. It's a change of pace from visiting casinos and aquariums. Sample the wine and pick your favorite. I like their Chardonney.

The place itself doesn't seem very inviting. It is not so decorated inside-small tables for sitting. This place has you pay for the wine tasting up front (the majority of wineries that we have been too have you pay after). It is kinda annoying to have to pay twice (if you are going to buy any wine). The woman who poured our tastings gave us minimal info and was very quick. We finished in like 10 minutes-made the experience less enjoyable.

This very pleasant and quiet vineyard is the perfect last Sunday afternoon in September or any other afternoon stop. The wines were mainly whites and most are "estate" wines, grapes grown on the premises. These are decent wines and they make no claim to be world class but are exceedingly drinkable! We sat out in the brilliant sunshine on a nice deck overlooking the vines and enjoyed a nice picnic lunch that we had brought with us and drank a bottle of their fresh white and their nice rose'. We would all go back and would bring others and recommend the place. This is very close to our home and is a gem.

It was easy to get to from Stonington. The price of the wines were much lower than the other wineries.
