My boyfriend and I left Provincetown after a two night stay and decided that on our way back to NYC, we would just stop at the next attraction that interested us. We didn't have to go far! We went to Mystic, Ct (HAD to have that pizza) and then hit Stonington. The lighthouse was just sooo beautiful, and peaceful, and easy for kids to climb since it is a smaller one. They have a small museum which was charming - and admission also got us into a house museum!

A very old lighthouse...now a museum...gives you a peak at the 1700's.
Also...a very good view of the Sound. This combined with a stroll around town makes for a great day.

This is a really cute and picturesque lighthouse/museum in CT - and one of the few you can see and visit in the state. The museum is a bit pricey ($9) but it does have a lot of really neat artifacts and displays about lighthouse life. There are books on sale about Stonington and a few other knick knacks as well. You also can climb the tower to view the bay and surrounding areas. I didn't climb since it was rather foggy that day.

Go here for: a lighthouse you can climb

Don't go here for: people that are afraid of heights
