“Great Storm Shelter”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Checked in for two days during beginning of Storm Sandy. The hotel was well prepared with staff 'in residence' and the kitchen and bar well stocked. What great planning! The room was modern and offered all the desired amenities. Fitness center was large enough with plenty of machines all in good working order with a staff person keeping things neat. Nice indoor pool the children enjoyed.
Food in restaurant was tasty and resonably priced. Never lost power and sleep well knowing that the hotel had a back-up generator.
Highly recommended for a storm excape - make reservations in advance.

Just got back from a 3 day visit to Stamford for a family event. Also, Hurricane Sandy had caused so much havoc to the area. The staff at this hotel were amazing. So very thoughtful for the plight of others. The hotel was very clean and well organized. I witnessed so much caring during a very difficult time. I can't give this hotel enough praise.

I just love Marriott!!! They just have the best beds and pillows and blankets and thats the most imortant thing for me. The matress was a bit soft though, but well. Otherwise, they told me parking was free, at the end it wasnt and I dont understand, why they dont include breakfast...

I have enjoyed the services at the Agora Spa on many occasions as I am a local banker and investment advisor and have always been impressed with the the Spa itself, the very nice, friendly and accomodating staff and the professsional therapists. I look forward to getting my massages and facials there and have always left feeling refreshed and less stressed than when I arrived. I feel comfortable recommending this spa to anyone, male or female, and have done so on many occasions with colleagues, friends and family. Making gift decisions has become easy as who would not enjoy some time at a great spa. Take some time for yourself too.

Room Tip: Something on a high floor.

Room was clean and very comfortable. Even though my room has a view of I-95, I was not bothered at all by any traffic noise. Staff was very attentive. Breakfast in the Concierge lounge was great - offerings included hot food (eggs, bacon/sausage) which was very nice. Hotel is within walking distance of a number of restaurants and a mall. Shuttle is available to other area locations, including the train station. Overall great stay ... Will be back!

My husband and i stayed at this hotel for a seminar, and we were also celebrating his birthday. The service was excellent. From the valet, to the front desk, to the spa. We had two massages scheduled our first night there, and they had to move our massage last minute, a half hour later. We were very understanding about it and as a result two employees at the spa diana and marie came knocking on the door to our room with champagne and chocolates. They wanted to show there appreciation for us since we were flexible about them having to move our massages. In addition they took money off both of our massages. I wasn't expecting this service at all. They all went above and beyond. Also one of our ceiling tiles in our room had some water damage/mold so i called the front desk and very quickly they had an engineer come to our room to replace the ceiling tile. I also was impressed with the hotel's cleanliness. Lastly they had a shuttle service to the town of stamford running every 15 minutes. We ate at a great italian restaurant in town. When we were finished eating we called our hotel and the shuttle arrived in front of the restaurant to pick us up within 10 minutes. I will definately be back.

We stopped here for one night and really liked it as an overnight stay. I could see staying here if going to New York if you want a bargain. Our room was on the concierge floor and a bit smaller apparently than other floors, and since it was decent sized, I assume the other rooms are a comfortable size. The bed was super nice and the bathroom was new and well appointed. Staff was great! The area seems to be a business location with lots of banks and office buildings, but there are restaurants in easy walking distance. The concierge floor is super, with a marvelous breakfast and a friendly host. All good.

Thanks you for your recent review of your recent stay. As you mentioned, we are a great price alternative to New York City--and only 50 minutes to Grand Central Station from the Stamford train station! Many guests have commented on our proximity, and at $12 a day our covered parking garage is a lot than parking in NYC too.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed our Concierge Lounge--and most of all our friendly staff. Our staff are top notch, and the reason we hope you will return again!

Your comments are appreciated--thank you.
