This Marriott is always busy, causing alot of wear and tear. I believe their last remodel was about 5-6 years ago, and I think it's in need of another. The carpet, tile, wallpaper, etc...all showing signs of neglect. Overall the property is a solid Marriott with typical services. Very convenient just off the 95. Room service is very good.

OK Hotel........lobby has been updated but rooms are showing their age.

Make certain you get a room away from Elevators / Ice Machines because there is minimal soundproofing and they are very loud.

Room Tip: Stay away from Ice machines/ Elevators

Thank you for your recent comments. You are correct that the Lobby and Sam's Bistro restaurant were recently renovated--plus all 508 guestrooms were given a complete upgrade including new bathrroms in 2008-09, so they are also quite new too.

I am sorry if your room location near the elevator was not relaxing. Please let me know when you return for your next visit and I will block a room away from the elevators.

Thank you for staying with us at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa!

A friend and I spent two nights at the Marriott (6/6 -6/7) Our room was clean and comfortable. The employees that we encountered were friendly and helpful. With my AAA Rate, we paid only $113.00 per night, that included the breakfast buffet. Only a 40 minute train ride into NYC. I would say this was an exceptional value.

The Marriott in Stamford offers nice and clean rooms, a gym and a really nice breakfast. If you're lucky you get a room with a nice view. The location is good for business, becauee it is located next to the interstate and accross the street is a mall for shopping. Food places can be found closeby.
Which I didn't like it that the mini fridge in the room as well as the vending machines that were accross the hallway were extremely loud! For people having trouble falling asleep you might want to look for something else - the nights are anything but quiet if you end up in a room close to these vending machines...

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. Overall, it offers a pretty decent experience, but it is showing some signs of wear-and-tear that need to be addressed.

On my two most recent stays, I noticed the dings in the walls in the hallways and the completely beat-up guest room doors. The entryways from the parking garage to the parking elevator look terrible. Although some parts of the hotel's decor have been updated, the overall feel of the hotel is that it's aging, especially in hallways and public areas.

My guest rooms were, thankfully, in better condition. They all have the 'new' Marriott design, although everything is standard-issue, right down to the red lamp on the desk and the tan and red carpet. On my most recent stay, the guest room closet door was completely off track and difficult to open/close -- another sign that the hotel's condition could use a refresh.

Service is OK. There's been lines at check-in, but to the hotel's credit each of the positions at the desk were staffed and the team moved through the line quickly. Staff have been courteous. I'm a little annoyed that every time I stay here my room preferences aren't met -- I prefer rooms on high floors and have always been put on floor 7 or lower, which doesn't qualify as 'high' in a 16-story property.

Parking is a mixed bag. You pay for it, and on my last stay the garage was stuffed full with many cars parked in creative spaces along walls, etc. The line to exit the garage in the morning can be long, as can the line to use the garage elevator.

My Marriott status has afforded me access to the concierge lounge. As concierge lounges go, this one is nice -- evening appetizers are substantial and the staff has been very good.

Location is great. Right near downtown Stamford with lots of decent restaurants, etc. in walking distance.

Overall, I'll come back...but here's hoping the hotel invests in some replacement in its public areas and keeps up with the maintenance issues in the rooms.
