“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed February 25, 2012

This was a nice hotel. The rooms was larger than normal. The first room I was given was hot (and I was there in February), and no matter what temperature I set the thermostat to, it was blowing hot air. I called the front desk and they immediately moved me, and met me at the new room so I didn't have to come back down to the registration desk. The 2nd room was great. The bathroom was an average size, but well designed to feel larger, and it made good use of the space. The view was good - you could see the Long Island sound and Manhattan off in the distance. Service was very good.

Stayed here for a couple of nights recently. Although the hotel and rooms were absolutely fine and in good condition, the hotel had no atmosphere and felt a bit "old" in its style.

The room itself was a good size, i had only a shower, but it was a nice walk in shower. The concierge lounge was pretty big and had great views, i only tried breakfast there and it was a good selection of breads and pastries.

My biggest disapointment was on eating in the bar area off the lobby. The food was distinctly average, but the price was relatively high. Would not recommend eating there.

Staff were very friendly and helpful

Took a trip up from New York and decided to stay at this hotel. from the moment we arrived everyone was extremly nice and went out of their way. We also used the Spa was totally surprised how the treatment was. The spa treatment was fantastic and truly enjoyed the hour long service. When we checked out the staff there gave us a nice smile and friendly goodbye. If you are planning a trip to the area stay there

Room Tip: The higher up floor you get the better view

At least once a year, we try to get away to the Stamford, Marriott. We have been going there for years. We've even stay at the courtyard in Stamford 2X. We like Stamford because it's close to home, close to the beach and lots of restaurants in walking distance.

We checked in, which went very smoothly. We had a high floor, as requested. The lobby and all the rooms have recently been renovated. We arrived in our room to find it was VERY noisy, almost like construction going on nearby. They quickly accomodated a room change for us.

Our new room was noisy as well, but more tolerable. We changed into our bathing suits to spend the day relaxing in the hot tub. (When I made the reservation I inquired if the hot tub was working). The agent quickly explained it was, because it would be flagged in the computer if it wasn't working. Anyway, when we arrived to the hot tub, we found it no longer existed. We went back to the room, checked out of the hotel and had them make us a reservation for the Marriott in Tarrytown for the next day.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of the water on a high floor

Ok, if you have ever seen the movie my cousin Vinny, I felt like I was re-living those two scenes in My Cousin Vinny when he is talking to the front desk manager at the hotel and asks him if the freight train always comes through at 5am, the manager says no that is very uncommon, next day same thing happens.... manager says it usually comes through at 4:10! Well.... between the train and i95, I will never ever stay here again, we should have just slept in our car by the highway or put our airmattresses up there on i95, these windows in this hotel are NOT sound proof, we've stayed at airport hotels right on the runway and haven't heard a thing ever When I called the manager in the morning he did offer to give me 5,000 points and breakfast which we accepted, but his argument was that we didn't call him at 3am when we were awake. What were we going to do pack up two kids and go get another room on i95 at 3am? It is a nice hotel, great location, only an hour from Manhattan, but they really need to sound proof these windows and not argue that we're in one of the quieter rooms.... Signed-tired on route to Manhattan :(

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you want a good room.
