Being from San Diego I know tacos. They have tasty meats and the corn is amazing (off the husk). I ordered tea but it was a can...gross! Expensive for little tacos. Service isn't the best. They bring the tacos on a tin and don't tell you which is which. There are better options in Stamford, but this was good.

The first time I went here was during the summer of 2012. Since then, I've been at least six times.

The location:
Bartaco, as with all the restaurants in this area, is extremely crowded with a wait of 30-60min at peak times and there is no private parking lot to this establishment. There is a public parking lot located on the same street next to the movie theatre and there is also a garage one block over as well as street parking (if you're lucky enough to find an open spot) so parking isn't a problem, free parking is.

The Restaurant Layout:
When you walk into this restaurant, you are greeted at the hostess stand but can see the whole dining space. The decor is very laidback casual with lots of "industrial" metallic and fishing accents. The walls have a collection of black and white aquatic themed photographs on canvas. In the front of the restaurant, there are about six or eight two-top tables with chairs that face the windows on the street. Along the perimeter of the two long walls are booths with high wooden benches. (I'm of average height and I find that you have to hop up into the booths and they are a little difficult to get into and out of. I'm not sure if all Bartacos are like this or if it is just this one, but it would be nice if they had booths that were lower and easier to access.) In the center of the restaurant is a large, full service, bar with bar seating surrounding it. Toward the back are the restrooms and the kitchen, which is visible to the dining room.

The food, drinks and service:
When you are seated, someone immediately comes over to provide you with silverwear and salsas and to take your drink order. The bar drinks are amazing, especially the margaritas. My favorite is the blood orange margarita which isn't too bitter or sweet. The drinks, while seemingly small, are actually quite strong so don't let their serving size fool you into thinking they are weak or overpriced. The quality of the food at Bartaco surprised me the first time I went there. I was expecting it to just have ordinary steak and pork and chicken tacos, but their menu also includes seafood and duck tacos. Their ordering style is a little different than other table top restaurants in that you simply fill out your own order form with the quantity you would like of each item available on the menu. Aside from drinks and tacos, the menu offers a variety of other traditional Mexican fare including tamales, quesadillas, roasted chicken, guac and chips tostones, rice, beans, churros. Everything on the menu is made to order and with fresh, quality ingrediants. The food comes out hot, delicious and fast. If you decide that you want additional items ordered, you just fill out another order form and place it in the sign holder at the end of your table and any of the staff will come over and place the order immediately.

On the weekends, after the dinner crowd has thinned, Bartaco has a dj come in and is a popular watering hole for the young and hip crowd.

Great margaritas, freshly squeezed citrus! The tacos are very small and are expensive for the value.

Hi, sorry trip advisor did not have the port chester one listed...love this one, its location in on the river in town feels beachie and warm, love the decor and its booths...new concept in food ordering, dont need a waiter...slips and pencils are in a tin check off what you want they pick it up and bring to the kitchen...all kinds of tacos, shrimp, chicken, snapper, duck, lamb, 2.50 each or 7.00$ for three...little rice bowls with the same toppings..smplates of salad, ceviche, tamale, guacamole. Sides of plantains, beans oh and great wines...so if you need to decompress try bartaco!

What a great concept! If you want to order, you place the ticket in the card holder to inform the server.

The food was very good, (try the tamales, there huge), variety of hot sauces was awesome, the service was excellent!

Well be back!
