This is no recreation of an old diner. It's the real thing, shabby round seats by the counter, old tables close together, harried waitresses, who've been there forever. The view is of a pond (not a lake), attractive in all seasons. The place is usually full with repeat diners ordering the same things, hamburgers, soups, omelets AND ALWAYS the homemade doughnuts, the best ever. The doughnuts are only one kind, fried, crispy and sprinkled with regular, not confectioners sugar. You can't eat just one or leave without taking some home with you. Even my 6 year old grandson, whose mother takes him to Dunkin' Doughnuts, agrees that these are the best. There is no pretense at serving gourmet foods but whatever you order, coffee and a doughnut are a must.
Important -they close at 3 pm.
