We went on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too crowded. We got a table easily.
The food itself is pretty good. We had enchaladas, soft tacos and burritos between the two of us. Nothing spectacular, but still the best Mexican we've had in this part of CT.
The issues... the mariachi band is really loud. They spent a good 15 minutes at tables right near us, and it was difficult to hear each other talk. I understand it can add to the atmosphere of a fun night out, but we were just there to eat dinner.
The biggest issue, however, was the cost of the drinks. It's $1.25 for each soda - no free refills. It wouldn't bother me so much except that the drinks are served in red wine glasses. We literally went through 7 drinks, and it was never mentioned to us that the refills would cost us. $10 in drinks is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. For that reason alone, I will not return.

The food and atmosphere is always great at El Sombrero! The live mariachi band is great for kids and adults. I would definately recommend it (and the shrimp fajitas).

If it is authentic Mexican food you are looking for, this is a great local place to find it! A good selection of ice-cold beer (or frozen concoctions!) and fantastic food! The chips and salsa to start are freshly prepared in-house. Guacamole is excellent. As for entrees - we've not found a bad one, but especially enjoy the cheese enchiladas, burritos, and the best chile rellanos!
