“A dream wedding weekend”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

My daughter's wedding reception was held at the Heritage this past July and it was wonderful. The director of catering, Jennifer Giuliano and her staff saw to it that every detail from the rehearsal dinner, reception, our accommodations to the breakfast buffet were carried out with expert care. Our many out of town guests made sure to let us know how pleased they were with their Heritage experience.

Dear RoseAnne,

What a beautiful letter! Thank you for taking the time to let us know how perfect your daughters wedding was at the Heritage. It is one of our staff's great joys to make a special event even more memorable by providing excellent service and a wonderful environment for a once in a lifetime day. We were recently named one of Connecticut's Top Ten Wedding Venues and compliments like yours show why.

We are thrilled that we got every detail right from the wedding to the brunch and send our sincere wishes to your daughter for a lifetime of happiness!

Kind regards,

I run conferences and travel a lot and stay a lot of hotels, so I have a basis for comparison. The Heritage in Southbury compares very well with not only hotels that house corporate meetings but as a resort destination. The hotes is clean, up to date and has a lot of beautiful facilities. It has a goreoug outdoor and indoor pool and a very nice indoor gymn. there are also a lot of nooks and cranies to just wander off too and sit and read a book overlooking gardens or the countryside. The rooms make you feel that you are in a class act. They are stocked with all of the emenities such as soap, shampoo, conditioners, body lotion and the staff refills it every day .I asked for more and certainly got it immediatly. There are wide televsions in the rooms as well.

What I use as a benchmark for evaluating all hotels or inns I go to is the way the staff treats its guests. For me this is the most important feature of any hotel because it measures whether a hotel cares about its guests. To this end the Heritage gets 5 stars. The front desk people were nice and always had a smile. If I needed anything from houskeeping or from any of the staff meandreing around the halls, they took care of it immediatly. I asked one staff person where I could buy a couple of bottles of water and he told me to wait a minute and brough up two bottles of spring water with the hotels logo on it and gave it to me complimentary. He did not know that I was the chairman of the convention. This says it all and I would consider not only running more conventions at this hotel but coming as a guest for a weekend getaway .

Room Tip: I would recommend a room that faces nice scenery and is large.

I booked the room as merely a stop over on a short road trip. Was pleasantly surprised by the location, a bit off the highway and through some trees. As we drove through the Heritage Village, the collection of shops and businesses I was more impressed. Go to the desk and find a less than enthusiastic young woman. Easy check in, but when I inquire about the village she has no info, no map or list of shops. Ask about breakfast, and she pushes their breakfast buffet. I was only looking for a grab and go, places to go people to see type breakfast, but she was no help. Got settled in the room flick on the TV, channels above 20 or so would not come in. Call down to the desk, oh yeah we have been having problems with the cable you should try these 5 things if they don't work, I can't help you. Of course they didn't work. The indoor and outdoor pool were both already closed as well so our options were pretty limited. If I played golf or wanted a spa treatment I would go out of my way to come back here, otherwise it was just your average hotel.

We sincerely appreciate your taking the time to review the hotel. All of us here are glad you found the location of the hotel rich in beautiful scenery. The summers are special in Connecticut and at the Heritage. In addition to the indoor and outdoor pools, there is a variety of other interesting options ranging from tennis, raquetball, spa, or biking.

We hope you will return again and take advantage of many of these options.

Kind regards,

We stayed at the Heritage as the first stop on our road trip to Maine. It seemed to be the only hotel that had a outdoor swimming pool . It not only has a outdoor pool, it had a indoor one too, a fitness center, and racket ball courts. The hotel was your average hotel/spa rooms. The bathroom in our room was very outdated (caulking around tub needed replacing), other than that it was nice. We ate at the pool bar/snack area out at the pool. The drinks as well as the food were laking, . The daily specials (food was pre cooked and assembled at the pool and the drink specials came out of a can.) We did not use the restaunt/bar in the hotel. There was a liquor store across the street , a Friendleys diner was also across the street . There was nothing to do in the evenings so if you are looking for a nightlife you need to go into another bigger city. There was a K Mart, grocery store and a fantastic asian restaurant down the street. As for the Heritage, I don't think I would stay there again, it seemed to be more of a meeting area for business men or a convention center. Pool area was extremely busy on the weekends as it seemed the locals came to swim.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel on Trip Advisor. We do offer many recreational opportunities at the Heritage. In addition to the indoor and outdoor pools we also offer with no fee to our guests racquetball, a full state of the art gym, tennis & hiking trails. Also on site is an award winning spa, and a scenic 9 hole golf course.

The Southbury area is a delightful part of New England to explore full of antique shops, charming small towns and many historic sites. Our front desk is well informed about events and attractions in the area and should you return again, would be glad to give you suggestions on things to do in the immediate area.

We hope that you will stop again on your way to Maine or elsewhere and would enjoy the opportunity to welcome you back.

Sincerely,

Judith Kalfon

We stayed at the Heritage Hotel for a President's Day weekend tubing trip. The rooms were pretty average/basic, but the desk staff was very attentive and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was great. The spa was only average. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you! We enjoyed serving you in February and are glad you and your group found our staff to be friendly and welcoming. We are also most pleased that the breakfast buffet in Eight Mile Brook exceeded your expectations.

The Heritage is a great destination for the summer also and we feature both indoor and outdoor pools, volleyball, hiking, bikes, tennis and golf. We hope you will consider us a four season destination and would look forward to welcoming you once again in the near future.

My wife and I, along with another couple, stayed at this hotel last weekend. We had been there before, but our friends had not. We are all impressed with the facilities available at this hotel. The staff at the front desk, Kamela in particular, was very friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and well maintained. We, as well as our friends, will definitely be back here in the future.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the North wing, as those rooms are more updated than other rooms at this hotel.

A recent stay at the Heritage Hotel in Southbury, CT was like a return to a dependable site. While the staff was particularly friendly and customer-focused, the facility is showing signs of needing an update. Rooms are clean, but need updated flooring, wallpaper, plumbing fixtures, etc.

My only real complaint involves the location of the restaurant. Wishing to stop in for breakfast, access required using several sections of stairs. This was all but impossible for one member of our party, thus we did not return for future meals.

We sincerely appreciate your taking the time to let us know about our very friendly and customer focused staff. Our people really make the difference to our guests at the Heritage Hotel and we are glad that you noticed their pro-active hospitality.

Eight Mile Brook our main dining room is easily accessible by elevator and I sincerely apologize that you were not made aware of that during your stay. Any of our staff would have been delighted to direct you and we hope you will use this option on your next visit.

We are continually working to improve the Heritage, and recently have completed a rooms upgrade which included new carpet and 42 inch HD TV's. We have multiple improvements planned in the future and we hope you will return on your next visit to the area. We would certainly look forward to welcoming you once again.
