Char Koon has been hidden -- and thriving -- in the two-blocks of commercial businesses that is South Glastonbury for about 18 years, so that says all you need to know about the food here. You can get the basics at any neighborhood chinese place. Every neighborhood has one. This place has special stuff. Authentic dishes, pasta dishes, all made with quality and fresh ingredients. Plus some of the basics (Lo Mein, Gen Tsao, etc.). The walls are covered in great reviews from all the local papers and magazines, and the NY Times. But here's the thing. I've had take out here four times and the place is tiny, loud, has only 9 tables with the cash register in the middle surrounded by people like me waiting for their food to go. I can't imagine paying more money (drinks and tip) to eat here. Maybe it's quieter a bit later, and/or on a Saturday.
