The Jones farmers harvest these crops from three different farm locations known as the Homestead Farm, the Valley Farm, and Pumpkinseed Hill. The farm also manages 50 acres of hay land and 50 acres of woodlots. Over five acres of grapes are in production for the farm's winery.

“Disappointed after 28 years....”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Have been going to Jones Family Farm for Christmas Trees for 28 years. This year we got a late start and were not able to get our tree until December 22nd. Each year we'd collect the Jones Family Farm Christmas Ornament. Having arrived so late, and walking a good portion of the Jones countryside, the trees on the farm were either small or looked like Charlie Brown Christmas Trees. Eventually we purchased a pre-cut tree out of their shed for $14 more than their regular price of $65. For the pleasure of paying an additional $14, we were not allowed our commemorative ornament unless we paid for it (said by a rather smug owner). We will not be going back.

I will say that they service of the person helping us with the tree was excellent.

“Teens want to make this new tradition!”
Reviewed December 9, 2013 via mobile

We'd never cut a Christmas tree down. I announced to my family including two teens we were going to the Jones Family Farm to do the whole Christmas tree thing. Lots of complaining about getting up early and going. The complaining stopped as soon as we arrived and something magical happened! We spent three hours having fun! Yes, fun with teenagers! We roamed through the hillside looking at many trees and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Even though there were many cars parked in the lot, we felt like we were alone on the farm. We took lots of pics for a Christmas card while here. One spot in particular was awesome - sitting on a big flat rock at the edge of a pond with a hill of Christmas trees in the distance. We found a tree everyone agreed on and my teens took turns sawing it down. It didn't take long, but they both wanted to partake. We brought our own saw, but there were many saws available. We brought a tarp as recommended on their web site and used it to take the tree to the bailing spot which was located next to the parking lot. We then tied the tree wrapped in the tarp trunk first to our car using bungee cords. Very simple. Very easy. We think drive and parked down near the barn and winery where we purchased garland and birch tree logs. There are wreaths and precut trees too. We received an annual pewter ornament when purchasing the tree. It's beautiful and there's a new design every year. The people on the farm were so very nice and helpful. My kids purchased hot apple cider for us and enjoyed tootling around the farm. The winery had samplings to taste and purchase as well as Christmas ornaments and snacks and gifts. Very charming farm. We purchased wine and bottle of apple cider. We took the long way home through the country side instead of back via the Merritt. As we drove back my teens told us they loved going and were so glad I drug them there and asked if this could be a new tradition. The magic of Christmas this year began at the Jones Family Farm!

“Great tree shopping use caution in winery”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

We had a fantastic day tree hunting at jones tree farm. We found the perfect tree and were so excited to finish the trip with a sampling at the winery. We approached the counter and were greeted by bob. He has worked there for 24 years. Unfortunately bob has no manners or proper business etiquette. He quickly informed us that we would be partaking in a sampling and not a tasting. Then proceeded to trash talk the winery that my sister works for. I know it was the end of the day and old bob was probably ready for his nap, but that is no excuse for talking to his customers like that. I don't think this will keep us from going there next year but I wish they were a little nicer to their customers.

“Great Place to buy a Christmas Tree!!!”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

This is a wonderful place to buy a Christmas tree, plus strawberries, blueberries, and pumpkins.

The service is wonderful, and the workers help you pick out your tree, bail your tree, and strap it to your car. They also offer pinecones, garland, and wreaths during the holidays.

Jones is very kid friendly. They have cutouts to put your face and a place to write a letter to send to Santa.

They even have an open fireplace where you can warm up and enjoy coffee, cookies, and warm cider.

Long story short, Jones Family Farms in Shelton, Connecticut is great.

“Great family outing”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

I have lived in Shelton for 46 years and this is the place to go for your Christmas tree, whether it be chopping or precut. In the fall there is pumpkin picking, and strawberry & blueberry picking in the summer. It holds many fond memories when my children were young picking and chopping down the Christmas Tree. They also have a winery and wine tasting for grownups.
