Superb service but the food was sub-par, price and lacked flavor -- BOTH times. Not giving it a third chance.

I'm a frequent diner at Amici's and every dish they make is great. Try the lentil soup when they have it on special. Also penne ala vodka with a side of meatballs and any of the fish specials are great. Tres leches dessert is a nice ending. Nice bar as well to have a before or after diner drink in or just eat in the bar.

Food Excellent Decor Very good Service Excellent
I'm an expatriate from New York City, doomed by past sins to live out my life (for business reasons) in what is affectionately called "The Valley." Coming into the area, I spent quite a lot of time searching for a restaurant to call home. Amici's was it. Il Palio is wonderful, but you get the immediate impression that everybody there seems to be dining for some enormously important event, like maybe their cancer is in remission or something like that. Most of the women look like they have just been to their hair salon, which is depressing. As for Amici's, the food is, in a word, excellent. The staff is friendly, compassionate and intelligent. The bar is as close to the Palm Court at the Plaza in NYC as you will ever get, if you live out your life in The Valley. Great, friendly bartenders who know how to pour serious drinks. The only caveat that I would offer is that Friday and Saturday night's are extremely busy, and the place is crazy with people who dine out maybe once a week at most. If you can find a reason to eat at Amici's Sunday-Thursday, you will be rewarded by some of the best Italian food, in relative quiet, that you will have ever eaten. Sunday-Thursday, Amici is 6 Stars, astounding...Friday & Saturday, you're on your own to do battle with the locals who have found what has to be the perfect Italian Restaurant in Shelton. And please don't write about prices. It's a great value. If $30-40 per person is too much for you, you probably should be eating at home.

We bought the restaurant.com coupon and decided to try this out. We did not have a reservation but did get a table for 2 on a busy Friday night. Service was a bit slow, they allow for plenty of time between courses. Portions are large and food tastes fresh and delicious. Prices seem to match portions, you get a lot of food for what you pay. Highly recommend the vodka sauce dishes and the meatball appetizer. Only complaint was the restaurant is quite loud.

I had dinner at Amici's on Sunday evening with my family for my brother's birthday. The food was terrific, portions were more than generous, and service was perfect. My brother and his wife are "regulars" there but I don't think we got special treatment because of that - I'm fairly confident that they're always up to this standard. It was nice that they weren't terribly busy (on cinqo de mayo most people were opting for Mexican food!). I highly recommend that chicken with prosciutto and fontina - yum! My brother had the osso bucco which also looked terrific and is one of his favorites.
