“Should be a $50 per night hotel-boy $140”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2011

This hotel was dissapointing for a Fairfield County hotel. Mind you we stayed here because of a power outage in our own town, so we were happy to have a place with electricity, but it was absolutely not worth the money...
The room was bare minimum-had a decent size kitchen with appliances, but the dishes in the cabinet were dirty.
The bathroom had absolutely no amenities-one small bar of soap-not even shampoo.
The air conditioning unit was so loud that you had to constantly raise and lower the volume on the TV every time it went on and off. It kept us up all night-the alternate choice was to swelter.
We paid for WiFi, but te service wasn't working.
At 8 pm, there was literally one person working in the entire hotel...the poor girl there couldn't handle everthing going on, and despite her manager being on the phone and knowing the situation, nobody was sent to help her.
The hallway floors were dirty and there were broken appliances in the hallways.
Housekeeping service is not provided since it is considered an extended stay hotel-so I ask...what did I pay $140 for? Stay at one of the many other choices on the same street in town-we checked out the next day and went to Hotel Siera.

I stayed here during Yale University graduation weekend. I had put a lot of time into finding a pleasant and cost effective location. I booked December 1st 2010 after spending 1-hour online researching and deselecting properties based on their reviews here.

I had one of the handicapped rooms, so it was probably larger then most. The property and room was clean and well kept. The reception desk staff was very friendly and helpful. No food onsite; however, a nice diner and other places to eat a short drive down the road.

I'd certainly stay here again for something clean and functional if I had business in the area.

Room Tip: Pick a handicapped room.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights while attending a graduation at nearby Yale. The facility is well situated off the interstate but lacking in services and quality. The mattress was in poor condition, the towels were of a rather thin material and the studio kitchen was equipped with only minimal dishes and utensils. Two plastic cups, plates etc.
Additionally, the staff and management were dismal. All requests were unanswered and
problems unresolved. The room was a bit worn and in need of good deep cleaning. I suggest you spend a few extra dollars and stay at the Residence Inn 1/2 block away. It was far superior! Beware, there is a $5 charge per day for internet.

problems were not resolved.

Good rooms. Big rooms. Good room and reception services. You will feel friendly. I would recomend this for all business travellors....

Food you have to get by yourself as there is no complimentary buffet.

I have been stayed here last 8 months and continue until my job ending.
1.) Price is low as an apartment if you live at least 1 month (30% off),
(50% off) if you live at least 3 months. This discount will apply to a first day move in.
2.) Place is quiet, clean, and safe. A big grocery store and cheap in one block away.
3.) Kitchen have everything you need (Stove, Microwave, toaster, coffee machine, pot, pan, dishes, silver wares,.....and a big family refrigerator for 2 or 3 persons). This is a luxury studio.
4.) Internet service is OK. Fast enough for my laptop with 2 GB.
5.) I have been checking the price on Craigslist and many places and finally I must stay here for cheap, healthy, and comfortable.
6.) Manager tried to reduce the price below the market in day by day. Hopefully I will get a good deal again.

My family and I had a chance to stay at the Homestead Suites for the last few weeks, on a business assignment.

Overall, they are pretty much what you would expect - clean, adequately maintained, and very helpful staff. Rooms are spartan but nice, and the equipped kitchens are very useful for longer than weekend stays. Kitchen is complete with a refrigerator, microwave, pots and pans, and basic silverware.

Though they don't have a gym, they have a tie-up with a local Planet Fitness about a mile away - which has plenty of machines and personal TVs. So that works out just fine. Just remember to take your room key and ID with you.

We had two complaints about our stay.

Our first week was spent in a room pretty much overhead the reception area, on the second floor. We woke up on a rainy night to find water dripping from the ceiling. With a floor above us. No idea how. The hotel personnel on duty said "Oh Boy" and woke up the person upstairs and did some running but finally said we have to bear with it until morning. When the maintenance people came in the morning, it had stopped raining - and dripping. The drips started again a few nights down, again on a rainy night.

We eventually moved to a different room.

Now, the second issue - internet. They clearly mention "free high speed internet" - but that's "high speed" only technically. As in faster than 14.4 kbps dial-up - but barely. Bandwidth is between 25 kbps and 250kbps - when you can connect. If you pick a room that is far down the corridor from the central reception area, good luck connecting from your room. My laptop kept dropping the signal, and I had to call tech support several times each day to keep the connection alive.

The other alternative is to grab a table at the common area (open 7 to 7) and connect - no issues from here (apart from the bandwidth, which is as mentioned earlier)

Overall - since we ended up eating out most of the time anyway - I'd rather avoid this place if I need to come down here again, unless there were pressing needs to keep the budget low. A business hotel without a standard internet connection is a major show stopper. Even rest areas on the NY Thruway have high speed internet for free.
