Hampton Inn Rocky Hill

How can you say something is very good or excellent if all it does is met expectations? Well Hilton has done just that. The Hampton Inn is right in line with what you'd expect. Nothing exceptional, but meets the standard that Hilton has developed. I would stay here again when in the area, and recommend the place to others. Unless you have to be in downtown Hartford, location is very convenient to the area and getting around. Front desk staff is very friendly and do a good job.

Can anyone resist the smell of popcorn?? What a good marketing idea. As you enter the loby you are greeted by the smell of popcorn and a very friendly & efficient person behind the desk (should have gotten the young ladies name). Creates a nice welcoming environment.

The rooms are pretty standard however, in this location, considering the price value comparion they are great!

My wife and I were very impressed with the Hampton Inn in Rocky Hill. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. (The LG TV was impressive). The bed and pillows were excellant.

The free breakfast was well done; the room was well organized and very clean. (The scrambled eggs tasted a little like powdered eggs). Otherwise, everything was great.

I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the end of the hall.

I'm a frequent business traveler and nearly always chose from the Hilton family of hotels. Most recently, the new and/or updated Hamptons have proven to be quality properties at reasonable prices. In general, a very good value.

Not so with the Rocky Hill Hampton. Although some updates have been made--flat screen TV, bed linens, and some room furniture--most of the rest reads 80's-90's era old-school Hampton cheap. The carpet is old and odd, the shower is hospital grade mild-yellow molded plastic, and the counter tops and lighting are last decade's builder basic. The polyester window treatments and floral wallpaper border are from another era entirely. Ditto the lobby furniture which is rumored to have been chosen by Martha Washington herself.

There are some maintenance/cleaning issues as well--the hallway had a definitive funk to it--if you've ever left your rental car windows open overnight in the rain you'll immediately recognize the aroma. The popcorn ceiling in my room was water damaged and missing some of its popcorn. Also, and very minor, the elevator floor and doors had soda from last month sprayed about.

On the plus side the staff was friendly and accommodating and each room had a night light-- a very nice touch. The bed was comfortable. Also, the parking lot has a fresh coat of sealer and bright white parking lines, so that's cool.

But the overall value was just not there. Maybe there is some Rocky Hill collusion going on--keeping prices high and quality low in a part of town that doesn't appear to be boasting high property values? Whatever the reason, travelers familiar with the face-lifted and updated Hamptons will be disappointed.

We were on business travel in the area and needed to remain within budget. On a previous trip to the area, we had used the Residence Inn. The Residence Inn was very good but was $210 per night per room during the last week in August -- an astonishing rate we thought for the location. The Marriott in the area had recently become a Sheraton and was similarly priced quite high (with a rate that did not include breakfast or internet).

The Hampton Inn came with very good recommendations on TripAdvisor and lived up to its billings. The hotel was very clean and neat. The front desk staff were friendly. The rooms, though not as recently updated as the Hampton Inn that we had stayed at the night before in West Springfield, MA, were perfectly fine for business travel. The bed was comfortable, the desk was fine and wifi and parking are included.

The breakfast at this hotel, which is included, was better than the Hampton Inn in West Springfield. Pre-made egg and cheese omelettes were offered, along with a larger selection of breads and fruit.

The only problem that I ran into at this hotel was that the ceiling by my window starting leaking early in the morning during a rain storm, either from the rain or the air conditioning unit on the floor above. I told the front desk staff, who appeared mortified about the problem and wet carpet (as well as appreciative of being told).

We will likely need to go back to this area again. If the price difference is the same between the Residence Inn and the Hampton Inn, we'll be at the Hampton Inn. Based on the people at breakfast, the hotel appears to be a very popular choice for business travelers.

We have stopped at this Hampton Inn a few times over the years and it is starting to show wear and could certainly use a little freshening up. Our room was fine but the hallway had a bit of an unpleasant odor. It is very convenient to Route 91 and to stores and restaurants. Offers the traditional Hampton Inn complimentary breakfast and wi-fi.

If you need a good, reasonably priced place in the Hartford area, this is it. The room was very comfortable and clean. Everything worked well from the plumbing to the 31" HD TV. Despite being close to a highway, there was no road noise. The free breakfast buffet is definitely a plus. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The only problem that I encountered was that the pillows were not very comfortable and seemed worn. I mentioned this to the owner, who was behind the counter when I checked out. He apologized for the problem and said that I should have called the front desk and they would have delivered new pillows to the room. I will surely stay here again the next time that I am in the area.
