“life on the river”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

Our family has been crossing the Rocky Hill Ferry for years. It is a relaxing way to go across the CT River. We always enjoy our conversation with the men who work on the ferry as well. You can't be in a hurry when you cross this way, but that's what makes it so enjoyable. You can take the ferry to go to the Glastonbury orchards (we love Belltown) and eat some of that fruit on your return trip. (You can even bring an apple or donut for the guys on the ferry). Take some time out of your busy schedule and cross the river on the ferry. You can even eat dinner at Mitchell's on the River on the Rocky Hill side. Enjoy it!

“A historic ride”

The ferry across the Connecticut River is a treasure and although it only takes about 4 minutes, it relaxes you as if you are taking a mini vacation. It is the oldest ferry in America and when you visit Connecticut it is a must do!

“Charming way to see the Connecticut River”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

The Rocky Hill to Glastonbury ferry is a great take-in, particularly if you are cycling in the area. It is one of the oldest run ferry services in the US. Its a small barge that fits 3 vehicles along with bicycles and pedestrians. It does not take long to cross the river but its scenic and quiet. Cost is $1 per bike/pedestrian or $3 for car load. If you are cycling, the roads on the Glastonbury side are scenic and quiet along the river. If you're on the Rocky Hill side, there is a take-out food window with a variety of casual foods, ice cream and drinks.

“History on the River”

A ride on the ferry is fun, affordable and great entertainment for the whole family. The Ferry is the oldest continuously running ferry in the U.S.
