“Great lunch spot”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Had lunch here and really liked the menu selection. The food was very good, the wait staff could step it up a bit but they were very pleasant.

“Outstanding service!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Nice variety of food choices. Loved the chopped salad, and the scallops
were fresh and cooked perfectly! Try the duck confit sliders! YUM!

“A bit disappointing”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

We have eaten here on several occasions. The outdoors area is very nice and the inside is neatly arranged. We went there for dinner last night and ate indoors because it was cold out. The lighting was terrible! I am all for ambiance but when you are unable to read a menu or your bill or see how your food is cooked...that is really poor. We had to borrow a flashlight phone from the people sitting next to us in order to view the menu! They were using several of them because they were in the same position...couldn't see the menu. I ordered a Bissell Burger. It appeared by flavor to be cooked correctly but I found several pieces of grizzle in it, one was hard like a piece of bone?? Since I couldn't see what it actually was, and encountered 2 more pieces of grizzle, I am calling it that. We have eaten here in the past but not for several months....their prices have gone up, their quality has gone down and the lighting just added to our disappointment. Probably won't return...

“Nice Surprise!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We stopped at the Bissell House on a whim and loved it! We live about an hour away and decided to stop in for dinner. The place was very busy as it was a Friday night, but the service was good and the food delicious! Our only dissappointment was in our waiter, he was so shy and didn't interact much. He didn't check in on us and had zero personality. We are very easy going and usually get to interact with our waiter or waitress which is what adds to the dining experience. Not this time, it almost seemed like he just didn't care. We will still go back as we loved the food and the atmosphere. The owner was at the front entrance and we noticed how he greeted everyone as they entered as well as he made sure to thank guests upon their departure. Nice touch!

“Don't judge a book by its cover...”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

My wife and I live in Ridgefield and we really love the way the Bissel House looks... But the food has just been such a
disappointment. This was our fourth and last time dining here. We have been hoping that this place would come around since it's by far one of the nicest looking restaurants in town but alas it seems to be a lost cause.
Our dinners tonight were a joke at best.. And paired with a heaping side of inept service.
When somebody leaves almost their entire entree on their plate you would expect that the sever might clue in..
Perhaps even ask how the meal was ? But instead ask if we saved room for dessert ? Pathetic
It's a shame.. But perhaps when they go under the new owners will hire a proper chef and take the effort to train their wait staff.
