“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

I travel for business and stay at about 120 hotels per year. My wife and I were looking for a Foxwoods getaway for one evening, but did not want to spend the money to stay at the casino. We did very well selecting this hotel. Location is 3 minutes to Foxwoods. Free shuttle runs every hour until 1245am. The hotel is brand new and modern. Beds and furniture are in like-new condition. Rooms are clean and well appointed(fridge, microwave, free WIFI, coffee maker, HDTV). Check-in/out was quick and easy. Very friendly front desk staff, as well as the van drivers and cleaning crew. We missed the shuttle by 1 minute, and they made a special run just for us. During the brief wait for the shuttle, we grabbed a drink at the lounge. Friendly bartender, $4.25 for a decent local brew. The food menu prices appeared to be on the high side, however comparable to the restaurants at the casino. It's difficult to find negatives about this place, I suppose the price for the room may be a little high, but compared to other hotels it was certainly worth it. I highly recommend this hotel

We choose this hotel because of how close it was to foxwoods. Pricing far superior to the casino. I am writing this review and still here in fact. We found a dead beetle in the room on air conditioner this morning. Left it there as a test to see if maid would take care of..came back she failed still there. Its dead so no big deal but was a good test. As one of the other reviewers said breakfeast here leaves a lot to be desired. I have hilton honors so i didnt pay but i feel bad for those who did. They will pay the first time but i bet you they wont come back. This hould be included in your room based on what you get. 2 servers the female very attentive the male didnt want to be there. Horrible . Why colnt i have gotten the girl not my luck. Some tables are cocktail tables dont belong there for breakfeast. Beds in room comfortable air a little difficult to keep adjusted right and a little noisy since they are window wall commercial air conditioners. Overall though as long as you dont want to eat here this hotel will satify your needs. Staff is fanrastic !!!!

Attended a concert at Foxwoods and stayed the night here. Hotel is great but the breakfeast experience was lacking. Service was slow and selection was poor. Hotel is very nice though, sleek & new. Room was big, tv was nice, shower was big.

We would have given this hotel a overall rating of five except for the following:

We book hotels based on their trip advisor rating plus the fact that they are non-smoking and non-pet friendly (except for service dogs). Imagine our surprise when we turned down the hall to go to our room after a night out to hear a yapping dog all the way down the hall. The dog, it turns out, was directly across the hall from our room. We immediately went to the front desk and inquired about the dog and to make sure the policy was correct on their website. The manager said she made an exception to their no pets allowed rule because the people were "Diamond Hilton Honors" members. She had blocked off the rooms around this particular room (410) and asked the people to keep the dog quiet (which they didn't). She blocked off the rooms around them but apparently didn't consider us across the hall. We were truly disappointed to find out, once again in life, that rules are made for only certain people to follow. If these people were "Diamond Hilton Honors" members they should have known the hotel policy. Does Hilton allow this at all of their hotels?

We feel the management disrespected especially us and all hotel visitors that night by allowing a dog in their hotel. Rules are rules no matter who you are.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from any Hilton Diamond Honors members in case they bring a dog with them!

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in preston ct. over the weekend of the fourth of July. This is a new hotel. The decor is very modern and while I prefer a more traditional decor, it is very nice and well done. We did have a problem with a noisy air conditioner during the first night of our stay, but this was taken care of for the second night. The one problem that we saw was a serious and dangerous one. The entrance to the hotel is not well marked and, when coming from the casino the access road is around a curve in the road and can be easily missed. It is dangerous to slow down because the cars in both directions are coming at 45-50 mph. I hope that the entrance road will be lighted and well marked in the future. That being said, we would stay there again.

Room Tip: I have nothing to offer on this issue.

The Garden Inn just opened so everything is new and clean!! Staff was excellent!! No problems! Pool and whirlpool are a bit small but nice. Need more lounge chairs around the pool! Only had 2 lounge chairs outside by whirlpool. Shuttle to Foxwoods...only 5pm-1am! Runs every hr on the hr to the Pequot hotel only. Remember that because no one at Foxwoods really knows!! We did not use the restaurant. The price was better than Foxwoods too!! Fitness room very nice too. Was here 7/3-5/2013.

Room Tip: We had room 143 on the main floor. Wife wanted to be near the fitness room...down the hall. You hear...

The Hilton Garden Inn in Preston, Ct near the Foxwoods resort and casino is an excellent deal. It is extremely affordable and well worth it. If you are visiting the casino or show, the Hilton Garden Inn is the place to stay.
