My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Roseledge. Not only is sleeping in a featherbed in a three-hundred-year-old house an experience one shouldn't miss, Gail's cooking is super! Our breakfasts were sinfully rich with offerings of fresh farm omeletes (broccoli, tomato basil, cheese or plain), cinnamon French toast, blueberry pancakes, bacon, home fries, and assorted freshly baked muffins and breads. On top of that, there were freshly baked desserts available every afternoon. Gail goes out of her way to make your stay memorable in every way.
If you're looking for absolute perfection in lodging then Roseledge isn't for you. There are no closets, for example, (because they didn't exist 300 years ago) and the bathroom in the John Meech room is a little dark. These are very minor details that are VERY slight inconveniences. (There are hooks on the back of the door to hang your clothing so we had no trouble adjusting to the lack of a closet and the only time the bathroom seemed dark was at night or when in the shower/whirlpool tub.) On the other hand, if you're looking for great hospitality, excellent food, and comfortable, authentic lodging, then you can't go wrong by staying here. The three-weekday-nights-for-the-price-of-two special was a bargain. I would definitely stay with Gail and Sandy again.
