The Vanilla Bean is a quaint little place located in beautiful Pomfret Connecticut just a stones throw from two private boarding schools. While the food and decor are above average, I find it snooty and WAY overpriced. I also found the service nearly nonexistent. If you can afford $15 sandwiches and have all day to wait for the service, you may like the Vanilla Bean. Many, Many people truly enjoy it. Me, not so much.

Ordered a 12 dollar burger, it was carelessly thrown together, burnt to a crisp (I ordered a medium rare!) ordered with cheese- no cheese on it, bacon was black, vegatables where old and soggy, 4 dollars for a bottle of water, staff seemed friendly though,

Very nice variety of sandwich breads/rolls to pick from as well as variety of stuffings/spreads. Always crowded and very friendly clientele. Weekend entertainment as well.

This was our last wine trail weekend this season in the "Quiet Corner" of Connecticut. Taylor Brooke Winery is our favorite and we asked them for a good place to sit, relax and have a good lunch. They recommended the Vanilla Bean. Great choice.

There was both inside and outside seating, motorcycle weekend in progress and it was probably last warm weekend before the drop in temperatures.

We decided to have four "burgers" and share. The huge menu was hard to get through before we had to place our orders.
Teriyaki Chicken Burger
Herbed Chevre Burger
Southwest Turkey Burger
Black Bean Burger

All were outstanding.

There is a good selection of coffees and teas to add to the meal.

The Café décor is eclectic to say the least. The bathrooms décor is "interesting."

What a nice way to end the season and get ready for fall.
