“Nothing better”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

This place is in a strip mall. It was previously a dump but getting a make over. It has the BEST mole sauce in the world (so far), I put it on everything Chili verde also one of my favorites! Hats off to the chef, his excellent choice of ingredients. Great salsa bar too. Need I say more?

“An unlikely gem.”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

There used to be two Baja's: one on York Street downtown, the other in a strip mall on Route One in Orange. Downtown closed; the very plain formica-tabled suburban one survives, and it's one of our regulars. You come here for the salsa bar: nice tortilla chips with a buffet selection of great salsas from the mild to the extremely serious.

“Machaca!”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

I love Bajas. Ok so it isnt that pretty. And it isnt that fancy. But darnit, the food is so good. I love the machaca plate which is shaved beef cooked in scrambled eggs. The burritos are great and filling. HUGE! I love the pickled carrots and jalapenos and all the salas. Its a dive, and easily missed from the road. The decor is cheap and tacky, but thats part of its charm (think tinsel year round and Corona flags) I suggested it to a friend who brought his wife and mother in law and they sat outside in the car for 10 minutes debating whether to go in, because it looked "sketchy". I had to remind him that I said it was good, not that I said it was nice. If you want sangria and fancy cocktails and tableside guacamole. If youre looking to impress a fussy date, dont go here. If you want a giant sloppy plate of food, then this is your spot. Ive heard the mole is great but havent tried it.

“Good food!”
Reviewed October 14, 2011

Visiting friends in CT, this is their favorite Mexican restaurant and I see why. The salsa bar is great; allows you to add the heat you like...waitress was great...so was margarita. The food was good; lots of choices and the chips were very, very good. Will be sure to visit again when we visit!

“always consistent and very yummy food”
Reviewed July 25, 2011

My husband and I have been eating at Baja's for more than 10 years. The food is always delicious. The salsa bar is very tasty and a big treat to try all the different salsas - mild and hot. The service is sometimes not so good, but you will never be disappointed in your food. On a busy night, the place is loud and bustling, but you can still hear the conversation at your table. We got engaged here 10 years ago and the owner gave us each a margarita on the house - they are tasty too!
